I went to bed last night with my diamond earrings in... my 2.12 CTW stud earrings. one must have gotten lose and is now missing!! I didnt notice it was missing until about an hour after i woke up and have torn my room apart, removed the bed, checked under and behind it ect...

They are insured, but I cant believe it isnt right where I was sleeping... it had to have fallen off the bed some how. I am taking a rest and next I will be moving the dressers incase a kid or one of the dogs knocked it over there... HOW DO YOU MISS a 1 carat stud on the floor!! it has to be here somewhere AHHHHHHh

Do you have those sheets that have elastic around the bottom? They can catch and hold things. Also -- look inside any shoes you may have left near the bed. Turn off all the lights and get a flashlight and shine it around -- the diamond may catch the light.

Is it possible you swallowed it?

I hear we swallow spiders while we sleep.

I had a huge freakout when I lost a diamond & pearl earring at home. Turns out DH had found it and squirreled it away. Any chance a family member did that?

I'm sure it will turn up! Do you have long hair? Have you checked really thorougly through it yet? (OK I realize most people couldn't lose an earring in their hair, but i can, so I had to ask  )

I'm sorry but in my world losing a 1ct+ diamond would constitute a LARGE diamond freakout!

I was going to say the same thing!
I have my fingers crossed for you, Marquise!

Are you positive the earring was in when you went to sleep? If you are, then it has to be some where you can find it.

Have to agree with the poster who mentioned long hair. Maybe you brushed it out and didn't realize it. Besides that, I'd be freaking out and tearing the room upside down!

But I know from experience, don't really tear everything up or that earring cold fly off to who knows where!

I'm sure you are checking every crevice and corner. Just go very slow and double check.

I've lost and found a few diamonds doing this and it's a horrible feeling.
Keep us posted - and good luck!

Have you checked the laundry? I have had earrings get stuck when I took off a shirt or sweater.

I hope you find it soon!!

Where did you get ready for bed?? Pulling a shirt over your head could catch an earring. Happens to me all the time. Did you brush your hair in the bathroom before going to bed??

I am trying to say you could have lost it before you went to bed and didn't notice it.

Portree, I do have the sheets with the elastic, and I checked, but I have a lot of shoes, and my closet is by my side of the bed, I will definately check there.

Kenny... Diamonds are yummy, but I would have noticed this diamond, big beautiful and the posts would have been very painful.

It is a large diamond freakout, but I am sure I was wearing them last night, and this morning I had to do a ton of stuff, It has to be somewhere. I am going to be searching every room, I just cant believe I cant find it!!!! :errrr:

I hope you find it. Good thing is , you know it's in the house. And ditto about turning off the lights and use a flash light..

Good luck!!!

All the same I would not flush away anything till I found that diamond.
Sure it's gross but lots of money is at stake.

There was recently a story about a dog that swallowed a diamond and they had to endure the unpleasant task of retrieving it a couple days later.

Not in the shoes, I called DH and made him check in the bottom of his shoes at work, and it is not there either... those are my everyday studs... I feel like crying. It has to be here somewhere, it just has to be!

I sure hope you find it....its got to be there somewhere! Lots of ***lost diamond dust***.

Check your PJ's or whatever you were wearing to sleep, check also the vicinity where you changed your clothes. My daughter always loses an earing during sleeping, and a few times they were in her "Pajama pile" that she leaves next to her bed.

What about inside your pillow. Sending you dust your way to find the earring.

I'm sorry Marquiseluv :blackeye:

Oh no!!!!!! I'm so sorry! Make sure not to throw *anything* away without checking it thoroughly - wadded up kleenex, anything! That stud has plenty of places to hide, unfortunately. I really hope it turns up soon. Could it be hiding in the crack between the mattress and the headboard? Maybe you and DH can take off the mattress and check? It could then roll under the bed. Oh, those little studs are so easy to lose sometimes. Also, if you're looking frantically - shaking the sheets can make a hidden stud fly across the room and roll under furniture. Just look quadrant by quadrant like an archaeologist digging for hidden relics. Good luck!!!

Thanks to you all for your caring. I had DH take the bed completely apart and we even disassembled the frame ;(
I have checked to bottom of every shoe, and am just at a loss.
I called the insurance company and they asked if I had dogs... I DO..
I am now wondering if one of them could have gotten it caught in the fur and carried it away. another oddity is that I never found the back of the earring either. I am sure they wouldnt have eaten it. They are maltese and while they will chew on their toys, I cant imagine either of them eating diamonds...
I will let you all know how it goes.. so far no luck...

Check the laundry and the washer, I have lost/found 2 diamonds in the washing machine. Another time I was looking everywhere for the stud I dropped and it was in the cuff of my pants.

I just did a Google search on "swallow Xray".
Apparently some surprising things can go down that drain - much more surprising than an earring.

If it's not too late, I think you should get some ZipLock bags, and noseplugs ready for the dog and for yourself, and may even the person you sleep with.
Just throw the bags in the freezer, just in case.
Be sure to label them so nobody thinks they are frozen Baby Ruths.

Oh no! I hope you find it. I had a stud get caught in my hair when I put it in (completely missed the hole in my ear) and found it near a leg of our coffee table about 4 days later. I put my earrings on in the bedroom but it fell out in the living room when I was putting on my shoes. There is hope. PS dust coming your way.

Do you have carpet/rugs in your room? We have plush carpeting in our master and mine got lodged in them once and you could barely see it in there. Good luck!!!

OMG :errrr:

I just about fainted when reading this! You must be besides yourself. :((

We are all (I have read all the comments!) feeling your pain! If you lost it in the house then you stand a much better chance of finding it. Check and recheck all areas, over and over. The amount of times I have found my mother's diamond studs (she went through a phase of losing one regularly!) in places where we had already looked was incredible. I think sometimes you disturb it and move it etc. So don't give up. Also think it was already mentioned but a flash light really helps, even in well lit areas. sometimes you just catch a glint of the little blighter and there it is! ( Your earring is not small but mum's is only a 0.25. )

Good luck!!!!!

Crap, sorry B. How sure are you that both earrings were in when you went to bed? Perhaps you are looking in the wrong place.

I hope you find it.

PS dust coming your way. I literally hate when this happens to any of us. It will turn up. It WILL turn up!

I lost a WG diamond leverback a couple of months ago. It was gone for four or five days. Then I thought, before I vacuum, I'm going to search again. I got flat on my stomach and shimmied under the bed and sure enough, there it was stuck to the edge of my thick Aubusson rug. I couldn't see it when I looked under the bed from the side of the bed.

Any news? There must be some bad vibes around diamond earrings right now. I lost one yesterday too. I'll take it as a wonderful omen if yours turns up.

Hope you find it asap. Hugs.

Jen

Oh gosh, I am so sorry! Hope you find it soon so that you can breathe again!

Ack! That's a nightmare! Keeping my fingers crossed you find it!

any progress?? I really really really hope that you find it--sending dust your way!

Gosh I hope you find this earring!!

think back on the night you went to sleep wearing them. Did you get up at any time that night? To the bathroom? Kitchen? Carefully check any place you might have gone and the hallways leading there.

I find jewelry tends to fly into the most difficult places, like the area of the carpet just next to the mouldings where it dips down touching the wall. Check all along any areas like that. What ever you do, don't vacuum or throw anything out til you find that darned gem! Good luck - keep at it - I bet you'll find it.
