It's time for Matata to do something to diminish fine lines & wrinkles before they start looking like the Grand Canyon. I had a consultation today about e-matrix and also the skin-tyte laser. Has anybody done one or both of these and were you happy with the results?

Haven't done it, but sure have thought about it. Right now I am a bit more worried about the 'girls' going south, but eventually
everything will need a tune-up. I will be interested to hear what people think.

Hi Matata,

I've had laser in the past for broken capillaries (KTP laser) and also an IPL treatment, but haven't heard of the ones you're mentioning. My one bit of advice would be to research the heck out of it and don't rely on what the docs tell you. I've heard that some lasers can cause facial fat loss. I know there have been lots of bad stories recently coming from people who have had multiple IPL treatments. Thermage is another one I have heard terrible things about. If fact, I read recently on a forum that Thermage is now being used as a form of laser 'liposuction' when just a few years ago it was being promoted as a skin tightening laser. Have you looked into peels? I've read some good reviews about TCA.

Portia what mean KTP laser? I have rosacea (more red line than real rosacea) in face and I would like to solve this problem. Could you help me to choose the appropriate treatment please?

Pardon me Matata, hope I don't be rude using your topic to ask my question. If so, please don't hesitate to tell me.

I'd be interested in what you learn/do. Please report back. I've had laser photofacial to get rid of brown spots. Took 4
sessions and worked pretty well, although I do have some new ones popping up. I just staring using Alpha Hydrox on my
skin (about 2 months now) and it seems to be lighting brown spots and helping with fine lines....doesnt seem to help with
the little bit of sagging going on around jaw line though so I may need something to help that in the future.

stci, I'm not sure what KTP means, I just know it's a type of laser used to remove red lines and brown spots on the skin's surface. I read about it on a rosacea forum (I have the same as you - red lines/broken capillaries). If you google KTP and rosacea, you'll find lots of info if you're interested in it. It does work, but I have one larger cap that keeps coming back and some new smaller caps that have formed. With rosacea, I think it's something you'd have to do as a maintenance treatment (maybe once every year or two). Ugh... I hate having such red skin!

Thank you Portia. I hate my red skin too!

I'm also curious about this subject, because I want to do one of these treatments, but like you matata, don't know which one to choose.

I actually work for a company that does cosmetic laser training. We get all of the new machines and technology... as an employee I get to try everything out for free :naughty:

Forgive my lack of technical terminology, but I don't actually work with the lasers. I don't know about the skin-tyte laser, but I assume it's similar to most of the other heat based skin tightening lasers (honestly, not particularly effective). I actually had an e-matrix treatment about a week and a half ago because everyone in my office has been raving about it. My skin has already improved. There was no downtime, but I did have a pattern on my face for a few days from the attachment used (almost like when you wake up from sleeping on something patterned). You can wear makeup within 12 hours of treatment so it was no big deal. It was fairly painless, but you can smell burning (didn't bother me too much).

My concerns are mostly about acne and pigmentation from acne. I'm the youngest employee, but my co-workers rave about e-matrix for wrinkles. It uses heat so you will still get the skin tightening benefits. It will also resurface which is what you really want. Another thing to look into would be a fractional resurfacing. The inside from my friends who actually work with the equipment is that e-matrix pretty much combines the results you would get from skin tightening, fractional, and a photo facial. The CO2 laser gives really dramatic results, but is definitely more invasive than the e-matrix or fractional.

I have personally tried peels, photo facials, micro-derm, and e-matrix. I used to let my ex's dad come in for fractionals and he loved them. I've seen results from all of the treatments on others as well as some treatments I haven't mentioned. Let me know if you have any questions and I can find out more. Whatever you go with, know that aftercare will really influence your results. NO SUN!

You might also want to look into using fillers like Juvederm if there are lines you want to plump up immediately.
