Do you ever come across a piece of jewelry so fugly it makes you eyes water? Here is the place to post it! (Please nothing mean, just funny stuff you encounter at the local thrift store or online that doesn't belong to someone -- yet.)

Sometimes I find a piece that's so grotesque it becomes fun again in a kitschy way. Perhaps at the next GTG we could throw an ugly jewelry party (like those ugly Christmas sweater parties) and give prizes for the most absurd.

Here's one I found online while scrolling the pre-loved sites.

I love cameos and brooches, but EGADS! Maybe its because I'm a portrait painter, but I can't get past that face. It looks like a velvet Elvis in brooch form...

I saw this necklace a few years ago on Kovel's website. This Victorian taxidermy hummingbird necklace sold for $36,000. Bell and Bird had 2 pairs of hummingbird earrings (both sold).

Maybe I am not avant-garde enough because I just don't get it. Can you imagine wearing a dead bird on your ears!!??!!

Those poor little birdies!

lol, I’m sure this will be removed but, my goodness, it’s articulated.........

So it can change shape and direction when required, just like the real thing. :Up_to_something:

There used to be a thread on ugly jewellery, however, I could not find it anymore.

I have a hunch it was pulled as it upset some people on this board.

DK :confused2:

Oh gosh, I don't mean to offend anyone with this thread. I just thought we could have some laughs looking at thrift-store type finds of odd things. I definitely don't want people to post anything mean spirited.

I was looking at 1st Dibs and The RealReal looking for ideas for jewelry to wear for my son’s wedding. There were a lot of pieces I would call Frankenstein jewelry where someone just put a lot of stones together but it didn’t look good.
I don’t think you are being mean spirited. There is a lot of “unusual” stuff out there!

This one I don't find that bad:

But this one...OOF! Poor dear, she looks like a muppet.

And this one is getting ready to cry...

Does it come in yellow gold? With a different stone in each "ring"? If so, I'm totally for this! We all want blingy. I'd go green tourmaline, blue zircon, morganite, and aqua for my rings ;)

Ah found it. The first few pages are so funny bc of the clever captions.

Eta - some of the things ppl found “ugly” in 2007 we would love today esp the Art Deco pieces lol.
