You all were right, the shower ended up being more fun than I anticipated (of course I anticipated a root canal). There were no games, no ‘events’… it was more like a ladies lunch (at times it dragged a bit, honestly) but it wasn’t torturous or embarrassing and my mom and I didn’t fight. I thought she’d hate the dress I bought, but she loved it (and the bright blue shoes). I did get a lot of lovely presents, INCLUDING some tasteful lingerie. My mom got me a lovely long silk nightgown and matching robe with a paisley print that I love. I got two pairs of silk PJ’s which are elegant but still sexy. I also got a lot of appliances and some towels off my registry – those from the ‘wilder’ friends I was worried about hitting Fredrick’s up. I was very relieved to get the toaster I registered for, LOL, from one of the ladies. My only head scratching present was a stainless steel spatula in the shape of a shoe. With a kitten heel. It was accompanied by a lovely card, I was relieved there was no Fredrick’s, loved the whimsy, and I really appreciated getting a gift at all.
All in all. It was good. Thanks for the support guys and for letting me vent and whine.
BTW: Mom did have a ‘safety’ dress for me… but she played it off as a Birthday present (B-day is next week) and was very effusive in her praise of the dress I was wearing. My uncle (who stopped by just before the shower to say hi) did a double take from seeing me in something with COLOR and youthful. I don’t have pics yet, but I will post one of my dress, provided that any of them come out okay. My aunt was taking pics and she has a knack for taking the most unflattering pics of me.
