Ok, a friend of mine is throwing me my first Bridal shower this Saturday, and when she asked me for good dates, I only consulted my own calendar, and now my FMIL will not be able to make it, due to being out of state. Was this wrong of me? Should Ihave consulted with her too as to a convenient time??? I just really don''t know what''s proper for all of this...

Is there another shower your FMIL will be attending? If not, it would be a nice gesture to try to accommodate her schedule as well if that is at all possible.

Ack...I just reread that the shower is this Saturday. At this point if I were you I would just tell your FMIL that you will really miss her.

Thanks for the advice tiger...unfortunately, it just dawned on me yesterday that I probably should have done that, FMIL and Ihave talked about it,and she is very disappointed about not being able to make it, but she''s seems ok with it. I did also invite her to another showe that is for both me and my FI, but ahe said she''s not really comfortable coming to that one, so I guess I did the best I could with the situation after the fact, I guess I just wanted to know if that was standard practice or not...

(((Hugs))). I really hope she continues to be understanding about it since it was completely unintentional on your part.

As to proper etiquette, I did find this on bridesmaidaid.com:

Pick a shower date as soon as possible, making sure that it works for all members of the bridal party including the maid-of-honor, bridesmaids, all mothers of the bride and groom, and any other crucial relatives.

thanks Tiger...I wish I had done a little research beforehand...I feel bad, especially since she has been so great about everything, the wedding is at her house, and she''s going to a lot of trouble to get the grounds looking great for it...uuughhh...I''m already a terrible DIL...
