(I tried to revive the old thread, but it''s non-replyable)
My current favorite comes from that thread. Original pic on left, on the right is a lazy photoshop to make it the color I prefer for the basic icing. Anyone know where this is from? The OP didn''t say!
We went to Oahu, the Big Island and Maui. It was my first time ever to the Big Island... we did the volcano hike to see the lava flow, it took 10 HOURS!!!

musey, this has nothing to do with cakes but do you have a link to a thread about your ring? Everytime I see your avatar I enjoy looking at the stone and the shank is quite unusual. I''d like to read more about your ering if there''s a thread on it. Thanks!
The robin's egg blue cake (I'd do it in 3 tiers). Goes with no color in our wedding but its SO gorgeous IMO I'm still thinking about it. You can't tell, but the blue actually has little flecks of brown from vanilla just like a robin's egg. I think it's blue buttercream with whipped cream piping.
The infamous M. Stewart of my previous thread...they only have a picture of a PIECE on her website!!! Cruel. Devil''s food with italian meringue and bittersweet chocolate sauce.
This is the best picture I have saved of our cake so far... although I''m sure there are better ones somewhere! I wanted simple and contemporary, so I sent the pastry chef a picture of one I liked and asked for it to be done in shades of deep purple.... but he did it in light purples instead.
The design was gorgeous though... and it tasted fantastic!! So we didn''t bother complaining.
And the presentation, which I loved.... it was vanilla cake with white chocolate and fresh strawberry filling, so we had dark chocolate cups filled with strawberry mousse on the side... mmmmmmm. I liked that it made it a bit different than just a regular old slice of cake!
Oh, all the cakes are beautiful and scrumptious looking! I don''t know that I''ve ever seen an ugly wedding cake though.
This is my current fave. It''s in an ad that''s been in a lot of magazines. Current plan is for my mom to try her hand at making the little pears out of marzipan, which we''ll then give to our caterer to put on the cake and draw the branches. As far as flavor, I''m all over the place!
And here''s a picture of my parents'' cake, c. 1973. My grandmother made it. Yes, those are naked dancing babies holding up the tiers
Since I''ve seen the pictures, it''s kind of fun to tease her about it. She still has naked dancing baby cake stand, but was only a little bit offended that I didn''t want to use it on my cake
That was my cake! I''m so glad you liked it! It was one of my favorite wedding things. We got it from Konditor Meister in Braintree, MA. Instead of turquouise, we had ivory buttercream. I''m sure I have a picture of it at home- no idea where though as we are currently moving.
Delicious flavors too- banana cream- tasted like Moon Pie and lemon citron.
We had cake tastings at 3 different places- it was awesome and tons of fun!
This was our unusual cake. Hubby designed it! I asked him to incorporate my bouquet into the design -- I was thinking flowers, he was thinking fiddlehead ferns! Nonetheless... it was a fabulous, oh-so-tasty, creation!
Here is ours. Three layers were light-lemon pound cake with raspberry filling and the other two were Amaretto-flavored cake with crushed almonds and Amaretto filling between layers. The icing was made from cream cheese. I don''t even like cake, but I have to say it was pretty darn tasty. We barely had any left over.
