Monnie~

I live in ILLINOIS! Silly! The closest Von Maur to me doesn''t carry Radkos. In fact, our Macy''s doesn''t even carry them. I have to check the web to see who in my area is selling them this year.

BFF has every kind of Radko. Her grandma collected them. She has the original Shiny Brites, birds, animals, traditional santas and snowmen, santa in a bubble bath, a slot machine, a giant ice cream cone, and tons more.

I would love to have my whole tree done in Radko traditionals.

Those little Shinies are cute. I think I may need to get them!

BTW-do you leave your tags on yours? I do.

SDL~ OOOHH. PRETTY! I always love a traditional tree. And, what is that piece of furniture to the right of your tree?? it looks pretty, too!!

It''s a nice tree topper, 20 lights. I got it at Target just yesterday when the second of my ebay tree toppers turned out dissappointing.

LOL, I totally leave the tags on mine, so funny you should ask!!! Sorry I was thinking you lived in IA, when you mentioned Peoria it threw me off, i think. I knew you lived in IL, really, I did!

I would love to see your BFF's collection, hint, hint....I'm jealous!

ETA: SDL, your tree is magnificent! Wow! I love the red ribbon and how tall your tree is, my lands! It is beautiful!

Here's mine. I have a small fakey with lights pre-installed. Although, looking at the pic, it looks like the bottom right lights on my tree are out! Oh shoot!

FI and I bought our first home this past May, so we are super excited about having our first Christmas here. And with a new kitty, a tree can be an excitement AND a frustration!!!

ETA - I don't have a topper yet - that's why I cut off the top! hehe

Here''s my family room tree. It''s a 9.5 ft douglas fir and it is tied to the wall [I have 5 cats].

Here''s my snowman tree which is in my livingroom. It''s a 7.5 ft slimline fakey.

Cleopatra~ I like that you did the ribbon and the beads. What kind of topper are you looking for?

Catmom~ WOW! That's a big tree!! How many ornaments do you think you have?? Two enormous trees-lots of work, I'm sure! Very nice!

Monnie~ I just realized that you can see a few of my Radkos in the Shopping forum/ I have a thread that shows my buffet. In the center is the musical candle holder, and on either side of that are my first two Radkos. I'm going to try to get a few pics of BFF's tree. She'll think nothing of it. I always circle her tree half a dozen times anyway...

I love everyone''s trees, although I have to admit, I am not in the Christmas spirit yet. I have no motivation to hang the lights or put up the tree and since my husband could care less, if I don''t do it, it will never get done.

I am still waiting for them to finish my pavers and I keep telling myself that once they are done, I will get started.

I would love to put a gigantic wreath in front of my entrance window, but we would have to buy a ladder long enough to do that and I don''t want to spend x amount of money just to buy a ladder to hang a wreath, so we will see.

I have fakey trees as well, so they would be easy enough to put up and put away, I have one big one and one small one but I can''t decide which one to put where.

But I have to say everyone''s trees have given me inspiration to get started!

Butterfly - has any progress been made with your pavers since you posted about them a while back?

We don''t have a tree yet, either, and are going on a group tree cutting down adventure up in the mountains along with friends. I''m not sure when we''re going, but I''m excited about the decorating the tree part, but not sure about trucking through the snow to get a REAL tree! lol

Nope, not done yet. He actually told me that even if they are done laying the pavers, they won''t be able to sand and compact them down until next April or May due to the weather, so it seems like it will be a year long project.

Here''s ours, we just finished decorating tonight.

I am loving all of these Christmas tree photos!

We aren''t going to put up a tree this year because we''re headed down South to see family for Christmas. We''ll put one up next year, though. It doesn''t feel much like Christmas in this house, but I love looking at all of your decorations! Please, keep ''em coming!

LOL, I have no idea how many we really have! Whenever we travel we buy an ornament and we also buy a dated ornament each year. We have a tradition that we''ve done since we got married and bought our first real tree. After the tree gets taken down we cut off a branch which is put in a glass ornament. I decorate the ornament and on one side I have the year and on the other side I write a snipet about the major things that happened to our family that year, good or bad. It''s really fun to go through the years when you are decorating the tree.

Thanks SDL and L2L! It takes us a good day and a half to two days to fully decorate the family room tree. That''s with help from the cats of course!
9.gif

Catmom, I love your huge anchored tree. I can see how you''d need to do that with 5 cats.

We''ve had our tree for 6 days and it hasn''t been decorated yet. This morning was the first time Holly tried to climb the tree. Repeatedly. She was a bad, bad, bad cat today. I fear I''m resigned to plastic ornaments this year, none of the glass!
20.gif
Even repeated ''acts of God'' (read: water bottle squirts) didn''t keep her away.

Oh FG, I can sooo sympathize! Funny enough, though, my cats only climb the fake tree. By the end of the season my poor snowman tree looks like a heat wave hit our living room. They love to sit and smell under the real tree but no one makes an attempt to climb it. That''s why most of my glass ornaments stay on that tree. I do have to keep them up higher, though. My big bushy guy can remove all ornaments with one swish of his tail! Here''s one of my Christmas "angels" from last year. Such an innocent don''t you think?!

Catmom~ What a great keepsake idea! You could make kits for that and sell them!

Here is last year''s [or is it the year before''s?]. This year''s won''t go up until DD gets home from university.

I love the yearly Christmas tree thread.

Catmom/Michelle, that is such a wonderful tradition!

My most special ornament ever is one that was made for me by a neighbor of my parents when I was born, she did it for my brother as well. She took a red silk ball ornament and bejeweled it all over and spelled out our names with beads, then she wrote this fairy tale story for us and bound it in a really pretty (for the ''70''s) green felt cover with gold stitching. The stories involve Santa and his elves finding out that special babies were born and they were assigned to the very important task of making us each a beautiful ornament. I will be following this tradition and making an ornament for the new baby in our family (my SIL is pregnant and due in Feb.) either this Christmas or next...I am having trouble finding the silk christmas balls but I think I can do the same thing with a regular glass ball ornament.

Ummm, how do you put a cat in "time-out?" Just curious, hee hee.

Is Holly your stray kitty, FG? If so, wonder if she thinks she''s back in the wild again when the tree goes up. Can''t blame them for investigating, now can we? LOL!

What a wonderful tradition, Monnie! That''s what I think is so wonderful about Christmas...the special little traditions that families have.

Somethingshiney, thanks for the nice thought but I don''t think that my ornaments are ready for prime time. I think only my family can appreciate them, LOL!

Gosh, what gorgeous trees!!! I love your trees; they are giving me great ideas

Here is our downstairs 7.5ft tree which we put up this last weekend. We have a wall of french doors/windows floor to ceiling in our downstairs 'living room' (to the left of the photo) so we put up this tree so that people walking by outside can see the tree at night. This wkd we get our 'real' tree for upstairs family room where we actually hang out, which is smaller and has more of my unique ornaments on it that I have been collecting for years. This one is more for display only.
