No deco. Keep your hair the way it is. I would love to have that kind of hair, but I dont so I go in the other direction instead. I have wave that has a mind of its own. The left side will flip out while the right side will flip under and the back lays like I have slept on it even if I have showered. If I had straight hair I would leave it that way. I personally have no idea what is in style I just do what I can so that I dont look hopeless.

LOL! Mine is just *starting* to have a mind of its own too ... I think its part of the (gasp) aging process. Still pretty straight for the time being but if it goes the way of my Mom''s

. FWIW I love the picture you posted, and think it looks adorable & modern. Good luck @ the salon!

I have a perm right now and I''m really happy with it. Everyone I''ve talked to about it thinks its natural. I had a super tight perm about 6 years ago now and I learned some tricks with it... I don''t use product to stiffen things or make things more curly, I use product that is for straight hair to make it soft and silky. The combination produces soft ringlets. I put the stuff in, brush all of my hair away from a point on my part (all the front I brush forward) so that the back goes down the way it should but the part itself is ill defined then I shake my head up and down like a wild woman and scrunch it all up then shake it side to side and flip it back once and then I don''t touch it until its dry.

You may find you need to curl your hair even if you have a perm to get the look you want. I wanted an easy tassel of ringlets. 100% orange rods on my head. If I were to do it over I might go beige.

I have had perms for years now and more often than not I am very happy with them. I definitely want a wash and wear hair do and find if I take a picture in of how I want my hair to look they get it pretty close. I have really enjoyed my last 2 perms.

I''m very intrigued by this thread and will be waiting to see how your perm turns out!!

I imagine the "science" so to speak has changed since the last time I had one (at least 15 years ago). I have very very straight hair, on the fine side, and would kill to have more body.

If perms are still as harsh as they used to be, I''m pretty sure it would fry my hair, but if there is a new technology out there, I''d love to try it!

1hr til appointment. I will prob take a pic when it is done as soon as I leave there and then I will take another tomorrow after I have washed and styled it.

Yaaay, excited to see! Have fun!

I''m excited to see the results!

This is my hair from the salon with just a small bit of mousse to control it and let it air dry. It was in a headband while I went grocery shopping. I shook it out and took a pic. It is not as red as it appears in the pic. As you can see my skin took on a reddish color too. I will post another pic tomorrow or the next day when I style it. I cant wash it until tomorrow because I really love these curls and dont want to risk it.

It looks great! I''m looking forward to seeing more pictures!

soooo confession... I got one too and it''s weird seeing my hair this curly! I''ve always had a loose natural curl but my curls haven''t been this tight in years. It''s crazy!

awesome job!! it looks fantastic! did you catch what color rods she used?

wow, your hair looks amazing! i love it.

WOW! That looks fantastic!

What was your hair like before? What is the texture of it, fine, med, thick?

It looks great! Your friend did a good job!

Thanks everyone. She used alternating peach and large blue. I dont think I will be able to post today because I work 9-9. I was going to take a pic from my phone and upload it, but I forgot the cord that I need. It saves about 15 minutes off my get ready time. I have medium to thick hair that is actually kind of coarse.

I really like it! When my hair was that short i used to spend ages trying to get it to look exactly like that!!

It has great body. I hope the curls stay.

I am delighted you are happy with it, job well done.

Love it!!!

RQ, it looks fab! Totally reminds me of Molly Ringwald, it is such a beautiful color and the curls turned out perfect! Glad you are happy with it.

Had to come look again. It''s like bombshell hair.

If you use something with ammonium thioglycolate as the active ingredient and your hair is not already color treated (basically is virgin hair) then you should be fine. Otherwise, breakage and damage will occur.

My hair was colored already and I have no idea about the perm kind. It came out of a box and it said award winning. Seems to be pretty good stuff. I am not having any issues with it. I am a little upset about it today though because the new mousse that I got makes it crunchy. That isnt the look I am going for. Trial and Error.
