I watched Charlie Sheen's interview with Andrea Canning the other night, and it was just sad. I don't understand his rantings, and I have no idea whether he's under the influence of anything or not. I hope he can get it together and do what's best for his family.

I always knew Sheen was wild. I NEVER even guessed the level of crazy he was at though! I saw the 20/20 he was in.. WOW. Just WOW. I honestly think he has lost his mind.

It really is bad how they are exploiting his mental weakness and delusion for ratings. And by giving him this platform to rant insanely with his drug abuse damaged mind they share somewhat in the responsibility for the damages, like 200 families out of work with the show's production halted. Those editors saw what they had and decided to go with it. Who doesnt slow down and crane their neck at a big train wreck? Cant the court institutionalize him since this behavior is clearly dangerous to himself and has affected innocent others badly as well.
Then again, he has never been entertaining to me before, and his rantings now are as amusing as they are sad, so it could be argued that he is at the top of his form!

What has he done to show that he is a danger to himself and others recently? I think he had an incident a few months ago with a serious drug/party night. I think that after a suicide attempt by drugs or weapons, people can only be held for 48 or 72 hours after. Not weeks or months, unless perhaps it is extenuating circumstances.

Even bad publicity helps the ratings of media reporting the "news" of his personal life and ratings for his show are helped by the attention.
Being a bad guy not only makes money for him, his show and the news outlets, being a bad boy or bad girl gets people's attention.
This is not new . . . Madonna, Elvis, rock stars galore.

I think it's possible we are being duped about him being all messed up.
He may just be a savvy actor playing the role of a messed up guy for all the publicity and the $$$$$$$$ it brings him.

My alternative music radio station here plays a lot of Charlie Sheen's interviews on air. A lot of his comments in the list above were taken out of context. I'm not saying he isn't truly ****ed up, but just trying to be fair.

To be honest, some of his comments are so cracked up, they're awesome. The guy is true rock and roll.

Right, I don't think these girls are too helpless in the whole thing, and I'm sure they view it as a ticket to 15mins of fame much like the Tiger Woods' clan. This will sound weird and politically incorrect, but in n a way I find Charlie Sheen (as crazy and overadrenalized as he is) refreshing by Hollywood standards because he's unbridled with no PR agent or spin masters telling him to blame someone else or enter a bogus rehab or get a reality show. I know he's an addict and needs some kind of help - but if this is what he is and these are his choices, then that is for him and his family (and authorities if it gets to that point) to handle as they decide. At least we're not being sold that bogus story of him suffering allergic reactions anymore. I agree the media is using him for ratings-I know it's a mutual "using" so to speak, but these interviewers are talking condescendingly to him about getting help all the while filming him on the descent down before the sun has even come up in some cases (gotta get the story first!).

However I have NOT seen this 20/20 interview or any full interview actually, so maybe he's hit a new kind of crazy..I'll have to check it out online.

Also I don't get the big deal about his show. I've watched a few minutes of it here and there but it's not even that good. It's weird and cheesy. Nothing on the same level as Seinfeld, Friends, or even Everybody loves Raymond.

He's not that talented and his show is crap. Be gone w/ him.

I assumed that at first but after his publicist fled and all his professional partners took steps away from him... I'm assuming it has NOTHING to do w/ money and more to do with an addict who is watching his drug money get taken away. A publicist and agent would be in it for the money w/ him if they were all in on this, they would sit around and watch the money roll in afterwards. If they are the ones moving away from him, you know there's gotta be something wrong he's watching his drug money dry up and he's freaking out. that's it.

A person who has not committed a crime cannot be held at all unless he is considered an imminent danger to himself or others. There are no extenuating circumstances. If the person is incarcerated because he has been convicted of a crime, that is another matter completely. It is very frustrating to mental health professionals who see clients off their medications doing bizarre things like walking nude in the street or storing newspapers on top of their stoves, an obvious fire hazard. The courts tend to interpret the danger as a very imminent one, however. Someone who stores newspapers on his stove is very unlikely to be committed to a mental hospital. (Well, there are none for him to be committed to anymore.)
