Ok, I am 29 and starting to notice some lines on my forehead that won't go away. Has anyone found any "drugstore" products that work fairly well to treat and keep lines from getting worse?
I use glycolic or retinol creams on my face, neck, and hands. I like ROC and also Alpha Hydrox (I only use them at night), but my sister uses something called frownies http://www.frownies.com/deep-wrinkles.php to calm those forehead wrinkles she has had for ages. She uses them religiously and swears they work (I have never tried them - no wrinkles thank goodness), but I will admit when she uses them just before she goes out those wrinkles disappear. I don't think this is a permanent fix because my sister is almost 56 and has had these forehead wrinkles since she was in her late 20s.
UK brand Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect serum and moisturiser are supposed to actually work, with visible results. I do use them, and I'm looking ok for 75. (Kidding - I'm 36, and just for fun, here's a weirdy webcam close up of my skin, so you can see it's in reasonable shape haha).
I smoked between the ages of 15 and 27, too. I stay up late, drink too much red wine, eat all the wrong stuff and rarely remember to drink water. My skin should look way, way worse than this, and indeed it did before the serum. I have pretty jars of la prairie and creme de la mer, and they aren't as good as the No 7 stuff. although they're lovely if you want to feel pampered.
eta now that I see this photo, it's clear I should be buying the lip balm to match haha!
Jennifer W, from the eyes up, you look like you are 8 years old, and your face altogether looks like you could pass for 12. I mean that in a good, very good way! You look totally youthful!!!
I use a humidifier in the bedroom everynight. I have oily skin, but that doesn't keep me from moisturizing! I use cetaphil cream at night, and I apply it right after I get out of the shower, while my skin is still wet. A beautician once told me that this helps to hold in the moisture better. I think it works!
I use a lighter SPF moisturizer for the daytime. I notice that moisturizing also helps my acne-even though I'm oily skinned, if I dry myself too much, the acne gets worse. I think this is because your skin is working harder to make more moisture, then your pores get all clogged.
I don't have any wrinkles yet, but I'm 27. I've got some pretty great dark circles, though! And wonderful acne! And large pores! Oh, and I've noticed that since I went off BC pills, I'm getting these weird, dark hairs on my chin! Yay!!!
Yeah, I was asked for ID a few weeks ago, when I bought wine. The legal age for drinking here is 18! I liked that man and will shop there more often haha.
Seriously though, the No7 Protect and Perfect serum is the way to go!
I've been using Alpha Hydrox for the past couple of months and can tell a difference. My skin is smoother, freckles are
disappearing, fine lines are diminishing and my pores actually look smaller. This is really about the first product that
I've used and seen such a difference. Unfortunately, it doesnt help with sagging skin like what I'm seeing around my
jaw line.
I swear by the Olay regenerist and Olay Pro X products. My skin is as soft as a baby's butt and everyone tells me I look at least 10 years younger than my age. I also stay out of the sun and eat healthy. I probably also have good genes.
