Despite many bad things that have happened in the world lately, I wanted to share that my faith in humanity was restored today when a neighbor found my jewelry and returned it after I posted some signs around my neighborhood.

I was walking my dog this afternoon and stuck my hand in my jacket pocket to discover that I taken off my emerald pendant and earrings that I wore on St. Paddy’s a few days ago, and stuffed them in my jacket. Since the jacket had shallow side pockets, I decided to put the pendant and earrings in a pocket on the inside of the jacket. When I got home, I stuck my hand into the inside pocket to make sure to take the jewelry out and put it in my jewelry box. To my horror, the inner pocket was not an actual pocket, there was no bottom seam and the jewelry had slipped right through and fallen out somewhere on my dog walking route.

My husband and I went searching up and down the street in a panic, and he even rode his bike around our entire route several times looking for it. I decided to post fliers along our small residential neighborhood, along our route, asking if anyone found jewelry that I consider sentimental, and if so, to please call or text my number. Lo and behold, I received a text within 1 hour of posting the fliers, and my neighbor who lives about 10 houses down text me to let me know her husband found it, and told me to come pick it up anytime. I didn’t post a reward or anything, but I brought them my most expensive bottle of red wine as a thank you. I don’t know what my jewelry was worth, but because it was a gift from my parents, it meant everything to me. I feel so blessed to have such great neighbors and the best part, the necklace and both earrings were found together, and intact. I’m one lucky gal! My green emerald set must be my lucky charms.

Any great stories of great people you want to share?

@jaysonsmom that is truly a lovely story and I am very happy for you. That does restore my faith in humanity too. Thank you for sharing.

That is an awesome story. Happy to hear you have good neighbors.

Here’s a story: I usually go through the Starbucks drive thru in the morning and while I’m waiting in line I take off my rings and put on my sunscreen for the day. Saves time in the morning. Well one day after going through the coffee drive thru I decided to get the car washed. I took it to a place that isn’t full-detail but that does offer a quick vacuum job after you go through the automated part. I parked my car in the vacuum service stall, grabbed my coffee, and got out to sit in the waiting area while the guys vacuumed the inside of my dirty car. Then I looked at my hand and realized I had left my rings in the door handle. The place is busy enough with multiple stalls of cars getting vacuumed that one of the staff could have taken them and ran off before anyone could stop him. But when I got back to my car the rings were all still there. Good to know some people are still honest. Thank you awesome car cleaner dudes!

We actually have plenty, as my husband is always losing stuff. I remember one time when he dropped his wallet with a few thousand dollars in it somewhere on our street during a torrential rain storm. Someone found it, went through the wallet, found his staff card, contacted HR and got his contact details so they could return it to him. Then appologised to us that they'd tried to dry the cash as much as possible but it was still a bit crumpled.

Another time I remember we were living in china, and this was before wechat pay/alipay. Atms were far apart and credit cards were not a thing, so everyone carried wads of cash. The area was rich so this was especially true arround our house. We lived next to a very good primary school, lots of kids were in the complex because of good school zones. I remember a young girl went knocking door to door through the complex trying to return a massive amount of money she had found outside. We turned her away as it wasnt ours, but she must have knocked through a lot of doors before she reached us. Everyone else must also have refused it.

@jaysonsmom so happy for you and that is so wonderful to hear. My faith in humanity is challenged at best and it is nice to know there are some (many?) upstanding people who exist. At times it doesn't feel like that and thank you for reminding us that yes, decent and kind people are in this world.

Love this... thank you for sharing.

It was really late when I posted this thread last night, and I realized that I posted this in the wrong sub forum and have requested this to be moved to Hangout.

But I’m so happy to hear of all the great people in the world, still doing the right thing!

@nala. This was lost then found...they are tiny in real life, but luckily they landed on the blacktop in our very quiet neighborhood street so when her husband rode by on his Harley, he saw it right away.

@jaysonsmom they must be especially shiny to be noticed by a guy atop a moving Harley! They are a beautiful set (what color!) and so special that your parents picked these lucky charms for you

Thanks, my parents love giving me jewelry, and up until recently, I never appreciated the types of jewelry they gave me, but now that I’m more ahem “mature” I’m beginning to appreciate and wear some of the pieces they have given me throughout the years.

@jaysonsmom Lucky girl! That’s lovely...like finding treasure in your own life and home. And if “maturity” means finding joy in more shiny things, I can’t wait!
