I know there have been bad reviews of Target''s registry before, but when we registered, I figured that I had never had problems with the store before, so I wasn''t going to worry about it. But now I am seriously unhappy with my experience, so I thought I''d share.
The biggest problem was that although I OFTEN checked online to make sure all the products we registered for were still available, a large number said that they were available "in store only." Didn''t seem like a big deal until after the wedding, when dh and I went to buy some of the stuff left on the registry (and there was a LOT, our BBB registry was totally fulfilled, but Target wasn''t even close, and now I know why). When we printed out the copy of the registry in store, all those items that said "in store only" were marked as "limited availability" with crazy prices, like $14 for a microwave, or "unavailable." However, when we went to the aisles, our items were there, and not for reduced prices, they just no longer matched the sku numbers on the registry. But people who had not picked out the items would not have known this. So now it is no wonder we didn''t get the microwave, toaster, toaster oven, etc. that we registered for!
The other problems aren''t as bad, but still worth mentioning. Their shipping totally stunk. They put every item in a different box, and the boxes were hugely bigger than they needed to be (can you say, box the size of a tv for placemats? Even when said placemats were purchased WITH a teakettle that came in it''s own huge box?). Also, there were a few items there were purchased together, but not all the items were on the invoice, and not all boxes had invoices in them, so a few times we had to guess which packages went together.
And finally, Target has the %10 off incentive after the wedding. We would really like to buy some of the stuff left on the registry and use this, however, some of the left is "online only" and there is no way to use the coupon with online purchases.
I only had to return one thing from the registry, and that was no problem, but all in all the BBB registry was much better!
