Selling Jewelry to Fund Other projects. Your thoughts.

Okay. Kama, that is great advice and you made me feel better about my decision. Now I''ve got to find someone I trust enough to send them off with a heavy bag of gold, overseas, and give me the money the get. Hmmm... that might be the difficult part.

Honestly, I don''t know if I know anyone. But you can be sure I''m going to think about it. I don''t want my family to know I''m selling it. It''s none of their business as the jewelry is not from their side of the family (my ''family'' is my mom''s side) but that won''t matter, I''d never hear the end of it.

I would sell it, I have done it. I am sentimental, but if it is a piece that I purchased myself anyway then I am fine with selling for something else that I may want.

I''d do it. But I am not sentimental. Even if I was, I would still do it because I would actually wear the new piece and I would know it came from my family indirectly at least.

hate to tell ya,but it would be pretty hard to find a buyer to pay you gold content for used jewelry.

Seriously, if I lived closer to you, I''d definitely take it with me the next time I was heading down to India. I remember the time you guys got robbed (sorry for bringing up crappy memories), I was either a lurker or had just created my PS account. I was heading to Dubai the next month and I wanted to ask you if you would like me to buy you any middle eastern gold jewelry! I couldn''t figure out how I''d send it to you though, and I also thought it would be kinda weird to ask you this as a new PS member!

If I hear of any reputable online site that offers a good gold rate, I''ll let you know for sure.

I have to agree. Selling for scrap prices only really works for an accumulation of broken chains, earrings etc.
That''s how my little baggie of goodies started out. With broken and damaged things.
