"Scariest Shoes Ever" - very awkward!

"I'll take a pair of lawsuits in taupe, in size 7 please."

I'd love to see a track race with runners wearing these.

    Kenny - you make me laugh!!!

The race would not be a fast one - I think you could complete a full colour sketch of the winner as she crosses the finish line!!

But they're art, not shoes. Now those McQueen shoes, on the other hand-those were actually supposed to be shoes.

They are beautiful. Not the shoes themselves, but the idea and the concept behind them. They are so awkward and awful, and such a statement on people and the impossible standards of beauty that exist now...

So very interesting!

Love it!

My first impression upon seeing them is "great art." You don't even need to see them in action to know that the statement is the impossibility of fashion. Nicely done!

I love them! I think they are a great statement on fashion. The McQueen ones on the other hand - blech.

LOVE the scary shoes for creating such a visceral reaction. So cool that it looks like a backward stiletto that gruesomely contorts the body -- it literalizes the contortion that stilettos do to us! But then it also kind of looks like ballet slippers that taper up to a grotesquely bent thigh -- I just find the juxtapositions awesome. I mean, definitely scary, but in a thought-provoking way, kwim?

as for the McQueen -- love them because they're so cartoon-funny. Hilarious that they're actually called armadillos!

finally: i had no idea PS also has funny forums like this. I may never leave here.

Well, I don't see any art. I dont get them. All I see are potentially snapped ankles.

+1
I really like them - they get the point across very effectively.

I showed my DD the video and explained how it was supposed to be a commentary about how women cripple themselves for fashion.

She said "Honestly, if anything in the world of fashion were going to change, it would have changed by now. People should just stop trying to talk about it"

I think that kind of summed it up for me too. :D

I think if the model were less attractive, the word "graceful" would not be applied to her gait. If an ordinary looking woman (such as myself) wore them, the word "dumb ass" would be used.

Did anyone else see the McQueen exhibit at the Met? That guy was a genius . . .
