So long story short, I''m helping to plan a 4-day conference in Santa Fe for next May. The boss on the committee is not planning to arrange any sort of fieldtrips (optional or otherwise) but having spent the day looking back at previous years of this meeting all other locations seemed to at least offer options of things to do whether they were planned to be done as a group or not.

Is anyone from Santa Fe or vactioned there who could help with ideas of things I could pitch to her to offer? It can''t be anything super expensive. There''s like 1000 things on the santa fe tourism website but its so hard to weed out what is actually worth going to. Its a biology conference so things that seem a little nerdy are prolly fair game.

Thanks for any help I recieve.

The best field trip would probably be to go to a museum, pueblo or Native American ruin site.

***My favorite museum is the Georgia O''Keeffe museum, which is really quite remarkable and has a very large collection of her work.
***Taos Pueblo is very special, but it''s about a 1.5 hour drive. Nambe Pueblo is closer, but I''ve never spent any time there so you might want to research.
***Bandalier National Monument is an hour from Santa Fe but is one of the best preserved and most interesting Pueblo Indian ruins in the state. Truly an experience. This might be the most interesting option for the biologist.

Here are some other tips/destinations:

Downtown Plaza: shops and galleries as well as several museums including the Georgia O''Keeffe museum. There are dozens and dozens of wonderful restaurants here, but my personal favorite is the Shed. There''s also an art festival there one weekend every May.

Canyon Road: This road is lined with galleries that house everything from museum-quality art (like Picasso and Monet) to folk art.

Maybe Skippy can chime in too. I can ask my dad if he has any suggestions. I don''t spend much time in Santa Fe, but there are tons of things to do, and Albuquerque is an hour drive away or a short ride on the Railrunner.

Thanks guys!

Ms.halo I actually was just looking at Bandalier National Monument but i did notice it was an hour away, but maybe I''ll reconsider mentioning it to her. I''ll definitely look into all those suggestions.

Anyone else with any Santa Fe experiences to share?
