SALE! On ALL! except...

OK, I just got a set of coupons. I need some cups for my kid. Coupon says, "Buy one get one 50% off on ALL 2 pack cups" (note, the ad highlighted the word "all", not me). Then of course the fine print says "except the cups that TGal wants."

Maybe it''s the English major in me, but all cups to me means ALL cups. I hate coupons that say ALL or EVERY and then lists all the exceptions. I haven''t figured out how they manage to do this legally. Hm.

lol i got those same coupons and immediately thought "oh i should get the cups that tgal and the other moms were recommending on PS" until i saw the fine print

I hate when they do that! I get coupons and get excited that I can buy what I want, and then the teeny tiny fine print always excludes all the things I want. So frustrating.

this always happens, always. It''s like they take a poll of what people will actually buy and then NOT put that on sale.

Yeah, I feel the same way about the supermarket here that advertises being open ALL the time, 24 hours a day! "Open 24 hours" is on almost every single sign. But it closes at 4pm on Sundays.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. Why use the word "all" if they''re going to asterisk it? I''ve had coupons where there so many exceptions, they should have just listed what specific things were on sale because the list of what was on sale was so short after all the exceptions.

Remember that sales are tools stores use to push people to buy what''s not selling.

If it''s a good product that people frequently buy at full price, the store has no incentive to sell it at less than full price.

(Unless it''s a loss leader designed to get people to come to the store for one item , in hopes they will buy other items as well).

I''ve given up on cupons for the most part, they''re never for what I want

Ha, nice to know I am not the only one. I''ve always wondered if anyone has gone in and argued that "all" means "all." There must be some legal way they can get away with that on the coupons, but it just seems to me like it could be argued. Heh.

My mom once did that. But it was a slightly different situation because the coupon said "all" (with no fine print on the coupon) and then in the store it said there were exceptions. My mom went in, was told she couldn''t get what she wanted because the coupon didn''t apply, and she started arguing and telling them she was a lawyer (which she is) and that what they did wasn''t legal etc etc. In the end they gave her what she wanted, but I don''t know if it''s because she was right or if it''s because they just didn''t want to deal with her
