Sad sad day for FH

Hi, folks,

I know how many animal lovers there are here on PS, and I thought I would share, because I am at a loss...

My fiance''s family dog, whom they''ve had for over 14 years, had to be put to sleep yesterday. He was old, he was sick, but he had still been energetic when we saw him last, and it was just such a terrible blow for my honey.

I''ve never had animals (save a couple of goldfish and a parakeet when I was a kid), but my fiance''s family loved this dog, and my fiance often referred to his doggy as his "brother."

I only knew him the last few years, but he was always a lot of fun. I have never felt close to an animal before, but the thought of him not being there next time I visit just breaks my heart. He was such a sweet and smart dog, and I am so sad for their loss.

If you could all just keep my fiance''s family in your thoughts, I would so appreciate it. They have a lot of medical and financial problems as it is, and this was just yet another hit to them.

Oh, so sad to hear this. My family had to put down our 14 year old cocker spaniel this winter, so I know what he is going through. My most heartfelt condolences.

Oh I am so sorry; that is so heartbreaking. I remember when my sister had to put her dog down I cried so hard; dogs are just so sweet and love you no matter what. Sending you and your FI a huge hug. {{{{{HUG}}}}}}

I think that''s what made it extra hard for FH--the poor doggy started to act really energetic just before they put him down--FH thinks he knew something was wrong right at the end...so very sad...

So sad. Our dog (whom DH had long before I was in the picture) turned 14 this year. I know it will be a horrible day the day we lose him. My thoughts are with you and your FH!
