Unbelievable, isn't it? Geologists everywhere are using the word "appalling." Right. I wonder too who's next? Has the whole world gone crazy? Does anybody else feel like they've entered the Twilight Zone in all kinds of areas?

Yes!!!

Re: Sad proof that scientific illiteracy is not just America

seems like an inquisition against the scientific community....yes, we have entered a twilight zone.

Sir Bedevere: ...and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped.
King Arthur: This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.

Sadly, MP-HG even applies to THIS.

This is sooo stupid!!! :nono:

Re: Sad proof that scientific illiteracy is not just America

Ridiculous! I feel so bad for them!!

We had an earthquake here last week that registered at 4.0...earthquakes here are rare (the last one was a decade ago) so it made the news. One of our lawn chairs fell over so I had to go down the stairs and stand it up. Can I sue scientists that did not give ample warning for the earthquake in my area for the labor I had to endure to upright our chair?

Re: Sad proof that scientific illiteracy is not just America

Also, this makes me wonder if the scientists would have been sued either way. If they had predicted an imminent earthquake and Italy prepared for it, but the quake did not happen, would they have sued the scientists for being wrong and causing unnecessary costs in preparations for it?

My thoughts precisely - it's scary!

Good grief. Seriously. This is beyond ridiculous :nono:

Crazy. I've been puzzled by the Italian justice system since Amanda Knox. Now I think it's scary.

Amen.

O. M. G.

Seriously?

Manslaughter convictions and SERIOUS jail time for scientists that failed to predict and warn accurately of the severity of an earthquake! That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! And this is an election year!
