Just wondering if anyone is worrying about guest attendance due to the scare of a huge price increase? Now they''re even saying some areas with small airports may lose most of their flights due to unnecessary layovers.

I have a huge family, which spans from California thru the midwest and into Virginia, and a destination wedding is starting to look a little worrysome, even just in Florida.

A few of my guests have opted for ridiculously long drives (one from NC to PA), but this isn''t a great alternative either due to gas prices! Luckily, most of my friends and family are within an hour or 2, but I am how I am going to get to some upcoming weddings of really good friends.

I think it''s a reasonable concern. I have a good friend planning a destination wedding and as it looks right now, I don''t know that we''re going to be able to afford to attend, and I feel horrible because she was a bridesmaid in my wedding last year! If you can look for deals to your location and let your guests know about them, that might help. My DH became a travel agent of sorts for our guests because our wedding was sort of out of the way and it was complicated. It was stressful, but helpful for the guests, and I think that sort of thing would be even more needed now. Good luck to you! I hope there is some sort of reverse in trends soon.

Sabine: I couldn't imagine having anymore weddings outside of Houston this year. We've had 5 since Feb and all were in Austin or Oklahoma. We have 4 in Sept/Oct, but ALL are in/around Houston. Woohoo!! I hope for everyones sake that these price increases aren't as extrordinary as they are predicting.

sumbride: We are thinking of August 2009 at Disneyworld. This is a slow time for them, I guess since school starts soon after, but I'm hoping that this will be a low time and there will be lots of good deals into Florida around then. Otherwise, I don't think I could imagine spedning that much money, and not have all my friends there. I'm pretty sure we'll be paying for the bridal party/ groomsmen to travel, but I want as many of my friends there as possible. This would be crushing if no one could make it. I like your idea of playing travel agent, bc I am wiz when it come to searching for flight deals, but I'm not sure how happy my company would be if I spent 2-3 hrs a day on travelzoo!!!

I just talked to my planner yesterday and she said that she'' prepp''ing for a wedding right now and that the bride told her a lot less people were showing up due to the cost of airfare. She said a lot more people are opting not to fly the long distances these days.

My wedding is destination for all family members. I know a lot of my FI''s family aren''t flying out here due to the cost. Now I think maybe even more won''t come after what my planner was saying yesterday.

meresal- This was a concern of mine as well, and Im not even engaged yet!!! Pretty much ALL of my family lives back east accept for my parents and brother. FF''s family is also ALL out of state.

Violet: I''m so sorry to hear that. It is really upsetting. I can''t imagine not having all my family there. I hope that everything works out for you.

Dreamgirl: We are in the exact same boat. I''ll be engaged in the next few months, but C and I have decided to start talking plans ahed of time since we would like to get married next summer. It is only my family that is scattered all over, but if we go to FL, then that means anyone here in Tx would have to travel there. I''m really hoping that something stops all of this. I will be on travelzoo, shermastravel, and all the others the day we pick the date and I will make sure everyone finds an affordable flight. I don''t want any of my family/friends waiting until the last minute and then bail out when the prices are $300 higher.

I already figured Id have trouble getting family out here, so many have not even been here before (Colorado) which worries me, I think when I get married Id like at least 40 people to attend. So far I know guaranteed Id have my parents, brother, his mom, his brother, his grandparents and some neighbors. lol Oh, boy! I even wanted my cousins to possibly be bm''s but they live out of state too. I can''t afford to fly them out either.

I know I shouldn''t worry because Im not engaged yet, but its always been in the back of my mind and I have always sort of added up who I thought would come when I do get married. (crazy I know) lol
