Sadly, Quest’s quote for the custom three-stone Birks replica doesn’t work for us.

BUT!! As you know, before we went shopping, I was sure I didn’t want a solitaire, but J insisted that I tried everything. It turns out we both loved the look of a .50ct stone on my finger, and I prefer the look of white gold. Talk about a turn around…

19.gif
Birks’ .50ct rings were in the 3000$+ range with no information on cut
6.gif
, and of course I am now armed with diamond education thanks to PS, so I started looking for a .50ct diamond that I would love and that would fit J’s budget. Here is what I found:

The diamond: http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1958359.htm

The setting, in white gold: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/4-Prong--Tiffany--Style---14k-Gold_609.htm

Total price in CAD: 1725$, no taxes, free shipping. J’s budget: 2000$

Talk about striking gold!! It''s a timeless classic, and it fits me perfectly. The diamond specs are exactly what I was looking for.

J’s hasn’t given me a definitive answer, but he’s very responsive. He wants me to get exactly what I want, and I think he’s liking the half-price deal…

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait about 2 weeks to know if he can buy it soon, since the company he works for has yet another cancelled project.

29.gif
He may become jobless again for a while, but he may also be sent to Calgary or Salt Lake city for the same undetermined period of time. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!! The traveling experience would be great for him, and he’d finally get to finish learning his English!! Anyway, whether he gets sent away or not, we’re just hoping he keeps his job. Please send good thoughts and prayers. Also keep your fingers crossed that my baby won’t get sold by the time he’s ready to buy it!!

I’ll keep you posted!!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I live just north of Houston and called Whiteflash today to make an appointment for a showing this Friday. I''ll think of you while we''re there!!!

It''s a beautiful stone and a classic setting. I hope all works out with his job so you can order it very soon!!

What a great diamond! And a beautiful setting for it. A very classy choice!

We''ll keep our fingers crossed for you and J!

Hey Chickflick,
Would you mind taking a peek at the diamond I just got from WF? Ask Bob to see Peggy from San Diego''s ACA H&A. Is it as beautiful and sparkly as he says??
30.gif

Mandarine - At first I thought they were too ordinary, but when I tried them it really "wowed" me!!

princessv - I am dying... The next two weeks are going to be such torture!!! Help!!
6.gif

chickflick - LUCKYYYYYYY!!! Thanks for thinking about me! I want it so much, they better not sell it!!
32.gif

Thanks Wren!!

emlove.gif
I love it!!!

You simply cannot go wrong with a classic. Have a great time Friday and I wish you the best of luck! And, we will be here for you when on those certain days, the waiting becomes unbearable.

Yippee! Yea for you anchor!!!! I am so happy for you. I hope you BF (soon to be fiance) is able to keep his job, and even polish his english skills a bit. *hugs and good wishes*.

Thanks Skylah! chickflick''s the lucky one going to WF, not me, but I still hope we''ll get it from them. Thanks for the support.

Matadora - I learned my English young as my mother is from Ontario, but my boyfriend only learned a bit at school. He wants to learn, but it''s not easy for him, and I think he needs the extra motivation that living and working in an English-speaking environment would provide. It wouldn''t be easy, but he''s so smart (he just doesn''t realize it
20.gif
)... He just needs the extra push. He loves to travel too and hasn''t had many opportunities, so it would be really great. Thanks for the good wishes. *hugs*

YAY that looks like it will be gorgeous!!! Can''t wait to see it on your finger!
9.gif
I''ve had such a fun time watching the development of your preferences (5 stone, 3 stone, 1 stone...) but it sounds like now this is really it!!!!! Good luck with everything and I hope you get it SOOON!!!!

I''m so indecisive, it doesn''t surprise me my preferences have changed so much! Trying them on really made a difference, so I''m glad we went shopping.

And who knows, I might get a five-stone anniversary band one day...
31.gif
It just didn''t look "engagement ring-y" to me when I tried it. The three-stone couldn''t work out the way I wanted it to be, so a classic, beautiful solitaire it is!
28.gif
I''ll ask Bob to have it set as low as possible while still being able to fit a plain band flush with it.

GAH!!! I can''t WAIT!! Two weeks it TOO LONG!!!
26.gif

I think you should get a 5 stone band to sit flush with your solitare
31.gif
31.gif

I''m so excited for you!!!!

Hehe, yeah, there''s no reason not to have a 5 stone anniversary band for like your 5th anniversary, and then a 3 stone anniversary band for your 10th!
9.gif

Also, isn''t it CRAZY how much seeing them on your hand changes your mind?? I was blown away by how drastically my tastes changed the first time I tried on rings!

And two weeks isn''t thaaaaaaaat long! BE STRONG!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
4.gif

Hehehe... Thanks ladies!! You keep making me want more, though, and that''s BAD!!!
28.gif

*breathes* Ok. Two weeks isn''t that bad... But, what if they sell my baby??? Under other circumstances, I wouldn''t have minded waiting two weeks, but this really scares me... I guess we''ll have to find another one if they sell it, but this one if just so perfect for me!!

Tell your guy to place it on hold
2.gif

No idea if this is possible or not (but I''m sure someone on PS would know?) but can you ask Whiteflash if you can put it on hold?? If you''re sure that''s the one you want and commit to buying it once the 2 weeks is up, it seems entirely likely to me that they would be willing to keep it reserved for you! Because that would guarantee your business, whereas if this stone sold out you could theoretically end up buying elsewhere. They might require a deposit or something for that though, I really have no idea.

That said, I''m sure it''ll work out and you''ll get the perfect stone for you, whether that ends up being this one or another one! Just ride that wave of excitement till it happens!!!
9.gif

Bob said they can only hold it for 24 hours...
39.gif

39.gif

Put it on hold for 24 hours...then call and say you changed your mind...have your boyfriend put it on hold for 24 hours...then call and say he changed his mind...repeat.
9.gif
I don''t think they''d catch on, do you??
31.gif

lol!! Albi, thanks for the laugh. I needed it.

Yay Anchor!!
36.gif
I''m so happy that you''ve found your ring! I guess trying on rings can really change your mind. I''m a little worried to see what happens when BF and I finally go try rings on
32.gif
(which should be sooooon)
9.gif
Your stone at WF looks gorgeous!! I hope you get it
36.gif

Yay anchor! That stone looks gorgeous and I love the classic setting. Have fun at Whiteflash and take lots of pictures....we''ll be waiting....
2.gif

sunkist - Don''t you have a shopping trip planned? Or am I just confused (which would be possilbe
2.gif
)? I hope you go shopping soon and that you find something you love!!

Cinderella - I''m must too far from Texas to go to WF in person!! chickflick is going, not me. Lucky girl... Anyway, thanks!

yay! i''m so excited for you anchor!!!

the ring is going to be gorgeous!! funny how the shopping trip changes your whole opinon on styles!

That''s why I don''t want to say anything specific to my bf until we have a chance to try stuff on. I''m sure I will change my mind a bunch.

anchor - love your new avatar!
9.gif

Thanks Cailet! That''s a very wise plan!
2.gif

albi - Me too!!
9.gif
It''s exactly what it''s going to look like, so...
30.gif

Yay, anchor! It''s going to be beautiful.

Hehe anchor when I saw your new avatar I thought did she get it already?! LOL It''s going to be beautiful!

YAY! I''m so glad you found something you love!! I want a whitegold solitaire as well, so we are kindred spirits! At first I thought they were too "ordinary" and not "unique enough" but when I tried them on, I knew it was what I wanted! I am so happy that things are moving along for you!
36.gif

I think it''s going to be gorgeous! Good Job, Anchor! Is it just me, or do you think the two (or in my case one) weeks of waiting are going to kill you? I''ve done the waiting for years, I couldn''t done that with my eyes closed, but now it''s so close- I''m like, oh man!!! What do you think?
