Is it customary to put your return address on the invitations?

I think you have to??

If you have an incorrect address on an invite, how will you know someone didn''t receive their invitation unless it''s returned to you?

I think that technically the host's address is supposed to be the return address, but since I knew that hubby and I would be tracking the invitations, I used our address for the return address.

Definitely be sure to use a return address, though. One thing I learned from the wedding planning process was that the US postal service is not nearly as reliable as I once thought.

Also, I think technically the post office requires return addresses on all mailings.

Obviously they can't do anything if you drop them in a post box, but once or twice I've forgotten to put a return on something I took to the post office and they instructed me to put a return address.

ETA: If your question was actually referring to *whose* address should be on the return, than as mentioned above, it's usually whoever is going to be keeping track of the RSVPs. I guess when couples don't live together before the wedding, and especially if the parents are hosting, then often times in those cases the address would be the bride's parent's.

Well i just got my invites a couple days back and the outer envelopes are pre printed with my guests address but my return address is nowhere on the invite.

Maybe in the UK they do not have return addresses?

I guess i will order up some labels or something to put on the back flap.

I think the embossed addresses look nice, and I don''t think an embosses and address plate are very expensive when considering you can use it again and again.

GOod idea in theory however FI and I live in an apartment and will be moving at the end of the year so we would only get to use it for 2 months after we were married (and even then the only mail we send out is our water bill) =)
