I am doing food stations at the wedding. We have rented china, silver and stemwear.

Here is the question...

Can I layout the tables with plates or should I stack at the food table?

As a guest, I''d prefer having the plate at the station. It seems a little awkward to walk somewhere with an empty plate in my hand, and since I''m klutzy, I''d rather eliminate one more situation where I could drop something :) - but I''ve seen it done both ways, so you really can''t go wrong either way.

we had food stations and had the plates on the staitons, not on the tables.

So what did you have on the tables?

ditto

Are you doing anything plated, like a salad course? You could have those plates at the table. If not, a bread plate or a charger?

also, with food stations, people tend to graze....eat the food from one and then go to the next.

AND, I would imagin that having the plates on the table people would just pick one up and then not go back there to sit, so then you would have guests wandering around looking for a plate.

Hi!

Why is it my opinions always seem to differ a bit from most of the others? I guess I''m just a little off! HOWEVER, I would think you would want your tableware and flatware to be on the table to make a beautiful table presentation! You want your centerpieces and the china you picked out to look beautiful and if you have it stacked at the stations no one will notice how beautiful it all looked together! As you mentioned if you take it off and stack it by the stations the tables will look empty UNLESS you are having a seated salad plate. I am kinda going through a similar situation because I wanted my salad to be seated and then have the buffet be self-serve obviously but my caterer claims a seated salad raises the prices quite significantly due to the fact they would need extra wait staff to clear the plates after first course!

Anyway, just my opinion - but I would have them on the table!
