Wedding Reception Costs

For a multitude of reasons from the economy to the fact that I''m paying for the reception with my own $, I''m having to consider dozens of alternatives for cutting costs for the reception.

How is everyone here keeping their reception costs down?

We didn''t hire a DJ. I made a playlist on my laptop and we hooked it up to the venue''s sound system. It worked fine! We made our own favor boxes and birdseed packets to toss. Its not neccessary to buy a card box/holder... they can just put them on the table with the other gifts. We were allowed to bring our own alcohol. We went to a liquor outlet and purchased a few of their closeout wines to try. We picked a white and a red that we liked and just bought a few cases of those along with champagne.
