Ugh, any vessel with multiple parts has a mold risk--we have used the recalled brand and others with similar components, and absolutely mold collects inside the parts. Any parent or caretaker who has had the pleasure of finding one underneath the seats of their vehicle or bottom of the diaper bag or between the couch cushions or elsewhere knows the fun times of having to recycle a $6+ sippy cup or bottle. I am a big fan of the cheapo "take-and-toss" sets which consist of just a cup and a lid with a fluted opening and 3 holes allowing liquids through. I'd rather clean up spills all day than expose my child to mold. Moral to the story: basically everything in life that makes things easier can be bad for you!
