Our venue allows silk petals to be strewn (is that a word) but real petals only if an aisle runner is used.

I don''t really want the aisle runner because a) Its another cost and b) it would cover the gorgeous travertine tile floors at the chapel that I love and c) they have some special tape/weird regulations that just seem like another headache.

So, are the fake petals totally tacky? Will anyone notice? I''m going to use real flowers for everything else....

No runner...

Have you ever seen that episode of "Whose wedding is it anyway?" where the planner has to remove the stains from the chapel''s carpet from the real petals that were on the runner and weren''t supposed to stain but did? Yeah, that''s what I thought of when reading your question. Is the runner really enough? Of course, this is hardwood (I think?) and not carpet, but still... the rule is probably there for a reason.

I think the silk petals will be totally fine on the ground.... nobody will be handling them besides the flower girl so they won''t be "up close and personal" with them. You may also want to ask about freeze dried petals if you''re really worried, but I think the silk will be fine. Unless they are slippery on that floor. Ok, new worry!

The floor is actually travertine or some other kind of fancy stone, which I''m sure they''re trying to protect - the wood I think you''re seeing is the pews. We''d probably give them white or off white petals to be safe...I don''t want any disasters...

Good call about it being slippery - we can probably avoid that by just not giving them that many petals? Do they really need to throw the petals at all? I know they''re "flower" girls but could they just carry some flowers?

They could carry a pomander if you didn''t want the flower petals thrown about.

Ah, ok, I can see that it''s stone now! Many stones are porous so they probably are concerned about staining. I think the pomanders would be lovely if you don''t want to deal with the other aspects. plus, bonus, no clean up! The petals are certainly not a necessity!

Beautiful venue, by the way!
