I boggle that they charge - actually charge 2 grand. Who has 2 grand on their card available as a deposit? What crappola.

I heard that they required a large cash deposit if you booked/paid without a credit card in case you drove off into the sunset but never that. You learn something new and all.

Hmm, did you check wilth all of the rental companies here? We have avis.ie enterprise.ie budget.ie europcar.ie among others.

Porridge: I have tried to be vague about my whereabouts, but I would love to get to a GTG. I don't know if my DH would approve but cross that bridge and all... Oh, and I have to repair my car. It died, again. Leaving me car-less.

ETA: Haven, I have free minutes on my call plan. Can I call any of the rental companies for you?

ooh let me know if you''re doing a GTG. I won''t be able to travel to Galway around the time when Haven is there as I''m in work that weekend but if you''re meeting up in Dublin I can meet for a drinkie.

Regarding the question about the Garmin we looked into it but you have to download or have it updated for another country and it cost about 80 bucks and to rent one with the rental car was only about 30 bucks so we went with that but I would for sure get one, it was very helpfull. Have a great time!
