DH and I both dry ourselves in the shower before we step out. I hate a soggy bath rug! When it''s really wet I have fears of it harboring germs and such.

I dry my body inside the shower. Then I dry one foot, step out with that foot, dry with the other foot, step out with that foot. I hate a wet bath mat. I hate a wet bathroom floor even more. It''s actually a serious pet peeve of mine.

I''m with atroop and cammy - dry all off in the tub, drying one foot first, putting it on the mat, and then balancing on it while drying the other foot. No wet bathmat at all.

good topic HDG! i hate it when our bath rug gets sopping wet too! BF is notorious for this since he just steps out of the tub dripping wet. it just bugs me when i shower after he does and i have to step on a cold soggy bath rug.

i dry everything in the tub except my feet and my hair. i have really long hair and do the "upside down flip" to towel dry it, so if i did that in the tub, the ends of the towel get wet from touching the remaining water. before i even step out of the tub, i shake off excess water off one foot, step out and repeat with the other. as soon as i'm fully out of the tub, i flip my hair over the tub and then dry.

maybe you can put away your current bath rug, and replace it with 2 or more folded towels as a rug instead. that way, if you happen to take a shower after your houseguest, all you have to do is toss the top towel in the wash, and hopefully the bottom one will be dry for you. sorry you have to go through this all summer, but like Moh 10 said, it could be a lot worse.

before i started living with BF, he used to have a roomate and his GF would stay over sometimes too. (btw, 4 people sharing one bathroom is NOT fun!) anyway, she would also leave the bath rug completely soaked, and not only that, but would leave her...umm how should i say this..."shavings" in the tub also.

they would also leave their toothpaste foam in the sink which completely grossed me out. i'd happily take a wet bath rug over any of that!

I dry inside the shower/tub. I can''t stand a soaking wet rug...a little wet is fine but not dripping wet. As for the feet, I dry one and step out..then dry the other before stepping on the rug

This is what I do too. And although I dry my hair first in the shower, it continues to drip, so the rug does get a little wet from that.

I usually step out and dry off, but it''s because I can''t reach my towel from inside the shower. If hubby is there with me, he usually gets out and hands me my towel so I can dry off in the shower and not get cold stepping out.

I dry in the shower, too. The floor getting all wet is so annoying!

Fortunately, hubby has picked up this habit from me (for his own good)

I dry my body off inside the shower. I step on the bathmat with my feet still wet though.
me too

Even if there is a rug I always put down a floor towel, so much easier and less smelly that way.

The only thing that drips a lot is my hair, which I have up in a towel by the time I''m out. Even if I don''t dry my body at all, the moisture just hangs on the surface (except for what''s on the bottom of my feet). It''s good to air dry as much as possible for my super-dry skin.

Back when we had a normal bathmat it was usually mostly dry, but we live in a dry climate so it may have been dissipating quickly. We have a wooden slat mat now, which doesn''t trap any moisture. I like it mucho.

It could definitely be worse than a wet bathmat - though it is annoying, I''ll give you that for sure. At least they''re not spending 20 minutes in the bathroom and clogging it multiple times per week

(that was a fun guest).

I could NOT deal with a wet rug, especially someone ELSE's drippings

that wasn't my DH (and even that I wouldn't love).

I dry my feet BEFORE I get out of the shower...and I wash the rugs once a week...

i always dry off on the bath mat.. i thought that''s what it was for!
but it never gets soaking wet.. maybe cause i have shorter hair?

I get out of the shower on to the mat, grab the towel for my hair and twist it up.. then I grab my body towel and dry off.

If I dry myself in the shower my towel ends up wet from hitting the sides of the shower

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your responses. I didn''t have a chance to come back in a while because my sister just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and I''ve been busy being the proud auntie (it''s my first niece or nephew

).

Anyway, I see there are varied responses but it''s good to see that some of you agree with me and that I''m not crazy for having this bother me. To answer some of your questions, no, she does not have long hair, it is very very short in fact. So that''s not it. I don''t know what it is, I''ve decided to buy a bathmat to place on top of the rug as some of you suggested and try to ride it out until she leaves. It''s just hard because I feel like the bathroom gets dirty so much quicker with just one extra person using it, as opposed to just my BF and I.

Thanks all!

This is exactly how I do it too!

Wow that''s pretty rude!!! Gross...I get so grossed out when it comes to bathroom stuff. I was taught to always rinse out the bathroom sink when brushing my teeth, etc, and that''s another thing she just doesn''t do...

I sometimes step out wet too, when I leave my towel on the bathroom door and can''t reach it from the shower (and even then, the rug still doesn''t get THAT wet). But...I usually move it to where I can reach it when I get out, before I get in the shower!
