It''s been raining in Atlanta for a solid week, the last few days being drenching downpours. Things have come to a head today with overnight downpours that have continued off and on all day. The main artery thru downtown (I 75/85), which is known as the "downtown connector" flooded and has been completely closed. Roads have washed out, mudslides, you name it. I''m about ready to go build an ark. It''s the worst rain that''s been thru the area since 1994 when a hurricane came up thru the southeast and parked itself over the region. Needless to say, the drought of last year has been forgotten. All the lakes have filled back up (and probably over!). Things aren''t flooding too horribly where I live, but other neighborhoods are submerged. It''s bad.

YES! I am so tired of the rain! Soon i''m going to have to move about in a kayak.

My husband is there on business, he said he''s never seen anything like it. I pray the rains stop and send your prayers for lots of sunshine.

The town where I grew up in is getting hit really hard. My Dad went to get my mom at work hours ago, and they are still on the roads trying to get home. All the roads except 1 going into their neighborhood have been closed, so I''m praying they will be able to get home tonight. Prayers and thoughts will all of those in ATL today.

Thanks April20... I''m about the leave the office and I take 75/85 home, so this is useful, but quite sad.

I truly have never seen it rain this hard for this long here in the ATL.

Well, the good news is the standing water on the major freeways has drained off. The downtown connector opened around 6 and with everyone taking side roads, there was NO traffic at all. We passed by a soccer field north of the city that was under at least 3 feet of water. I heard the west side was hit far harder than the east side and has lots of trees down (we live east). It''s stopped raining for now and I''m hoping it''s finally moving on. The weather guy said earlier this evening that a tropical depression came up from the gulf and couldn''t seem to get into the jet stream to move on, so it just sat. He explained a little bit as to why this happened, but I kind of missed that part.

The best news of all? They say we might actually see the sun a little bit tomorrow!!!! I''m stoked.

Too bad we can''t transfer rain. Southern CA is desperate for some, and it''s fire season.

I saw that on the news today! So scary! Fires and flooding all over! Hope you and yours are safe!
