Hi everyone -- just a quick vent. I''m wondering if any other DC area brides have gone through this. We''re having pictures taken at various locations at the National Mall/memorials. You are supposed to apply for a photography permit. I submitted our application and paid the $50 fee. And I wait. I finally called the National Parks Service and spoke to someone who claimed to have called me telling me that there is an additionally $50 location fee required in order for them to process the permit. I''m just annoyed by the additional fee because I read over the site, procedures, and even called to double-check prior to submitting the application, and nowhere did anyone mention an additional fee required.

Just a silly, quick vent. I hate hidden costs.

That sounds really strange. Can you call another number, maybe they don''t have the right info? Why wouldn''t they post all fees on the site? Sorry, just sounds odd to me.

It''s strange that the National Parks Service did not tell you about the additional $50 fee upfront. For my wedding in Yosemite I had to apply for a permit and there was also a non-refundable application fee, totalled $200 all together. I wasn''t happy about this, but there''s no way around it if you want to get married in a National Park.

Marchswallowbird,

When did you get married? Did you post pics on here? It was always my dream to get married in a National Park. Well, not always, but ever since I saw (from a distance) a ceremony at Zion. We decided to get married in Europe instead. Still what I wanted, but I always get a little nostalgic for a national park wedding!!

Yes, we paid for the permit and then for the location. It was a pain.

Vintage, I don''t get married for another year yet! But I got my permit already, just to be completely and 100 percent sure there wouldn''t be some stupid snag with that at the last minute. It was one of the first things I did once we pinned down which venues in Yosemite Valley we''d be using.

Just wanted to say that sucks SuLi.
