Question for Golfers

I don't know anything about golf, so if you are a golfer, please help me out.

I need to price this "pre-loved" set of golf clubs to sell for a charity fundraiser. I've cleaned them up the best I can and photographed them.

How much should I ask for them? I want them to sell quickly and not linger. They probably aren't great quality, but I would think a beginner who wants to see if they like golf enough to buy a new set could get some use out of them.

There is one golf bag, 8 clubs with the big round heads and 8 clubs with the little metal oblong heads. (I have no idea what the different clubs are called.) They appear to be all different brands.

Thanks in advance!

Probably less than $100 since they are used and different brands, if you want it to sell fast. You can get a new beginner set for around $200 and a quick Craigslist search had used sets around $100.

Question: Are these ladies or men's golf clubs? (or unisex?)

You need to figure that out. You also need to figure out if they are right or left handed and for what height person they are for.

It might benefit you to sell the drivers separately (the ones with the big heads), sell the irons, putters and wedges together with the bag.

it also depends on how old they are, what shape they are in and what brand. New clubs have new technology.

you might need to bring them to a local golf course and ask the pro to help you out as it’s for charity.

Thanks, this helps!

Before this endeavor, I had no idea that clubs were for right/left handed, or for a particular gender or height. Now at least I know the right questions to ask. And now I know the names (drivers, putters, etc.) Thanks!

No problem! Glad to get you going in the right direction!

Yeah that’s a real mixed bag but not a complete set, I would venture to say it’s not worth loads I’m afraid but a lovely gesture on your behalf!

You definitely got a buffet going on in your golf bags, but not a complete set. I can only tell you the two TaylorMade woods you have are for men, and they are probably from 10 yrs ago. You can definitely take to a golf shop and ask someone to check for you. Among your irons, you have all different shafts as well, graphite and steel. you might want to ask what flex they are, whether they are A-flex or stiff, or ladies. Unfortunately, new technology gets released each year. Even brand new clubs from last year's release are priced significantly lower, so used clubs are not worth much, unless you have a limited edition Scotty Cameron or something in there.

it is a great idea for a charity event though, someone might actually get to use them instead of taking up space in your garage.

Do you think $50 is a fair price, or lower?

The bag is probably worth $50. it’s for charity, so I’d say $75

Like others have mentioned, it’s probably good for a kid getting started or someone who just wants to chip in their yard or isn’t a serious golfer.

I think someone might pay $50 dollars for them, but if it’s an auction lot, I’d start low and hope people get caught up in the frenzy of bidding.

You’ve done a good job of cleaning them up, but excuse the pun, they really are a mixed bag, and steel shafted irons are not that popular anymore because of the weight. We’ve recently bought new clubs, and just ended up giving away our old steel shafted clubs.
