I hope all of you remain safe.

I don't know how true it is but it makes you wonder.
Haven't seen that (off to investigate), but if its real...![]()

This just about sums up the Australian character TG. Last night we were watching the most harrowing coverage of people running for their lives a a wall of water was metres from them. Their cries and screams were haunting and will stay with me for some time. I wept and felt so gutted.TravelingGal|1294952198|2821981 said:I hope all of you are still hanging in there. Still have not heard back from a friend, but hope she's alright.
Love your spirit Queenslanders...it's making news here in the U.S.

I saw a few days ago a statue in Brisbane someone had put on some snorkeling goggles and floaties (I didn't know whether to laugh or cry). Aussies are an amazing lot.

In the next hour they did a story on Queenslander's resilience. They talked about our iconic Football stadium Lang Park being underwater. Many people wept about this. Out the front of Lang Park (Suncorp Stadium as it is now known) there is a statue of a very famous Queensland Rugby League Player Wally Lewis or "King Wally' as he is known here. The story showed Wally bailing out houses of strangers. He just turned up to some flood affected street and got on with the job!
Then they cut to the statue of King Wally and guess what it had on? Floaties goggles and a snorkel added by some wag. That to me sum up the Australian characteristic. We can laugh through the tears!

My son lives in Brisbane two streets from the river in a high rise. They shit power off at midnight last night but gave them no warning so he couldn't charge his phone. He got out this morning a few mintes before the main road out got flooded.
He's home now but pretty gutted.
His work underwater and no idea when he can return to home and work.
He said it was just surreal.
I pray for everyone else.
