do guys go on purse forums asking ladies for advises on what brand/style to buy for their gf/wife like they do with diamonds here?

i would feel embarrassed joining a purse forum...

Actually, husbands do that all the time on the purse forum. It's tons of fun for the members, since they get to virtually shop!

You do need to start within the forum for the brand, though, since the (biggest) forum is divided by brand. Then just post your budget and ask for recommendations. Let everyone know if you want to buy new or used. Louis Vuitton has a pretty broad range for new bags, from $700 for a neverfull to a few thousand for the limited editions. Chanel goes from about $1800 for a wallet on a chain to $5000 for a larger classic bag. The forum members will also tell you where to buy it, especially Chanel, which have very weird distribution habits.

You need to decide if you want to buy her an everyday bag or a special occasion bag.
