PUMPKIN SHORTAGE!!!

Due to poor weather last year much of the pumpkin crop wasn''t fit for use in canning. So this year we''re experiencing a shortage of canned pumpkin. So, if you need canned pumpkin for your holiday recipes, buy a few cans now while you can.

I know, it seems like such a minor concern now but I''m going to be peeved if I don''t pick up a few cans and then can''t get any close to the holidays. There''s nothing worse than having to make pumpkin pie from real pumpkin..PITA in my opinion.

I''ve never had pumpkin pie. I''d like to try and make some but NZ dosn''t seem to have canned pumpkins, only fresh ones and many recipes want the canned sort. It would be good on halloween.

You can use fresh pumpkin, it''s just more labor intensive because they have to be roasted and then mashed.

I had to drive to four different grocery stores to buy pumpkin for our pup! I had no idea there was a shortage, everyone just told me they were out for a while.

We put pumpkin in her kong and freeze it so she has a time consuming treat to eat wen we''re gone for a while.

Come to think of it, I haven''t seen any Pumpkins at our local grocery stores. I was thinking, perhaps it''s too early?? Guess that''s not the case. Thanks for the heads up Haven. We are spending Thanksiging at our FLA house. A first for us. I hope I will be able to get all the fixings I need. I am no Martha Stewart... Or Betty Crocker, or Julia... LOL!!!

I''ve seen pumpkins all over the place. . .but then again, I drive out by farms all the time! Can''t wait to pick a few for Halloween (if there are any left).

I''ll be sure to stock up on canned pumpkins just in case, though. Thanks for posting this!

Oh, and that reminds me. . .I told my son we''d plant pumpkin seeds in our back yard. We tried this before and they all turned moldy.

Ok, I think I''ll try this........All the recipes I''ve found contain milk products so I guess BF can''t have any (He''s lactose intorlerant) but that means more for me
