Wanganui isnt far off state highway one on the way south to Wellington, a nice place to spend a few days, i would certainly make you and your SO welcome
There will be cheap travel again
The long haul flight is horrible though, you need a day or two just to sleep, ive found its always worse going forward in time

You & your SO should do one last trip to NZ and Australia - two geographically beautiful places not to mention full of mostly generally friendly people. But I do get it travelling is insanely hard on the body as we age and you also have to get in the right frame of mind to do it as well.
 
Thank you so much for posting! I’ve used these on my dog and cat- yikes! Anyone have any good alternatives? Both of my pets seem to be flea magnets during the summer.
