Tacori, wow, she knows all the kid''s cars? That''s a brainiac!

Janine, hahaha...you got a snort out of me. I''d rather buy vids than borrow from the library because I was scarred by late fees as a kid...I was a horrible returner.

Jas12, I totally laughed out loud about "Max". That is really, really funny.

puffy, I hope you feel better. It''s SO not fun when the family is sick.

snlee, I wanted to wish a hearty congrats here! D will love having a bro!

I was at my friend''s house (the one with trips) last night until 2am. Wow, it made me realize that having one is SO manageable. Its...just...crazy.

Just a quick drive by to say congrats again to snlee!!!! I'm sure it will be a blast to have 2 boys and D will love his broder!!!

Jas12, love how your mom has it all figured out about "Max"!! Too funny!

janine, I never even thought to borrow from the library! Great idea. We totally rely on "on demand" and DVR for our repertoire of shows for the girls. They've just gotten into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because I needed a change of pace from the Nick Jr. shows!!!

Tacori, love that Tessa knows the kids' cars. It's amazing what they can retain. Lily knows all her friends' first and last names and knows their parents' names too. I don't even know all of that stuff!!! They are totally sponges at this point and it's so amazing to watch.

sbde, my pregnancies were basically identical and I ended up with 2 girls but I guess you just never know what can happen! When will you find out? Or are you not finding out?

TGal, how is your friend doing? I was going to ask you for an update anyway so I'm glad you mentioned her. I can't even imagine what it's like with 3 at the same time. I guess you just figure it out when you have no choice...

Blen, we like the Santa Barbara salsa--I think that's the brand. The veggies are chunky enough but not overwhelming and my girls just love to "dip" anything and everything so they enjoy it too! Glad everything worked out with the glasses. I agree with TGal on the redirecting at that age. It's too early for time outs so I think that may be your best course of action. Just stay consistent.

jas, hi!!

Lily's turning 3 next Wednesday
39.gif
so we're getting stuff for her Mickey Mouse themed party at school. Yesterday I was freaking out because I'm so behind on organizing everything and she said to me, "mommy, don't panic." I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! How do they learn this stuff?!?! And of course, there's Lucy right behind her saying, "no panic, mommy, no panic." These two are like a walking comedy team! One more funny little story--I had just finished giving the girls a bath and Lucy stood up so I could get her out of the tub. All of a sudden, there was a funny noise that came out of her butt--yes, she passed gas. The poor girl was so shocked, she kept doing it and then turning around to look behind her to find out where the sound was coming from. Then she said, "I poop, no poop". She was so flummoxed by the whole thing and I was trying to hold in my laughter but I couldn't control myself! Of course, Lily in all her wisdom had to tell her, "Lucy, it's not poop, it's a fart." And then I totally lost it!!! The sister dynamic is fascinating.

I know I'm missing some people but just had a few minutes to check in! Hope everyone's doing great!!!

Busy busy here, but CONGRATS Snlee on 2 boys. Trust me, it''s the greatest thing!

I like big fonts and I cannot lie...

Also, Curly, your story about "I poop, no poop" has me in hysterics here.

More later, folks. Sorry...life is nutty.

curly: your girls are a comedy act! I poop no poop is hilarious! Unfortunately we made the mistake of giggling once or twice when C let a few loose so she laughs. Uh oh. And NYPL (especially the Bryant Park One) has a great children''s section---but the late fees are also NYC prices!

jas12 haha...your mom has got some subtle ways!! funny. hope Co sleeps in tomorrow.

qt glad J is sleeping better. as long as M sleeps, do what you gotta go, but that''s great she''s sleeping in her big girl bed. did you ever put rails on or you didn''t need them?

snlee congrats again...it really is awesome watching my boys become the best of buds already.

tgal that''s so cute that amelia is somersaulting away!!

blen HI!!!

bobo hope you guys all get better soon. are you going on a trip? have a great time!

tacori that is so funny about T''s gum. B loves it to but he''s getting much better at spitting it out...problem with him is now he spits EVERYTHING out of his mouth. not fun!!

janine haha about Dora!! hope C is doing well

sdbe both pregnancies were pretty easy for me but with Noah, i had some m/s, nothing crazy and with B i had none. but everything was pretty similar, except the weight gain of course.

curly your girls are funny!! i can''t wait until Noah is older so he and B can be more interactive.

mother''s day...finally have a gift in the works. worked out the details with lesley this morning. i don''t think it will be finished in time for mother''s day but that was my fault for taking so long to decide what i wanted.

it is the funniest and sweetest thing...every time B looks over at N, N will either smile really big or start laughing and ''talking'' to B. i love it!!

snlee- congrats on having another boy! One of my friends has 2 boys about 2 years apart and they are just the BEST. seriously, I think you''ll love it.

puffy, can''t wait to see what you decided for Mother''s Day.

snlee, yay for another boy! I hope you will get to have another VB.

Jas12, your mom is so funny. Haha. I feel like that is something my MIL would say. I still remember when we were talking about baby names and she claimed she came up with Natalie (that was our other name we liked) and I was so pissed. In my head I was like "oh, you heard me saying I liked that name in MIDDLE school b/c a girl in Sunday School had it?" b/c I have liked the name since then. Pushed Tessa over the edge b/c I felt like I would be hearing her tell my daughter in 10 years "I named you." Petty is my middle name. Hope Co behaves while your DH is away and the baby calms down. Stay strong super mama.

TGal, I wouldn''t say that! I guess she just pays attention. I cannot IMAGINE having multiples. Triplets would probably do me in. So sweet of you to help her.

Curly, SOOO funny! I love your two little girls and it makes me wish T had a sister. T is right proud of herself when she passes gas.
20.gif
I can''t believe Lily is almost 3! Where does the time go?

Puffy, I tell her she has to spit it out in my hand. She kinda gets it but asks for "bubbly" ALL the time. Your mother''s day gift sounds exciting!

Thanks Tacori.

Congrats snlee! D will be a great brother. Sorry to hear about the placenta previa. Hope your placenta will move up later in the pregnancy.

Curly, Lucy''s "I poop, no poop" totally cracks me up.

Thanks puffy, We''re going on a 3 days cruise to mexico.

Tacori--haha. I''d be petty too. Tessa was the right choice! I guess my mom doesn''t like our boy name, Emmett ?
20.gif
. I actually do like the name Max as well. But like you said, then i''d be hearing how she named him.
She''s also stuck on telling me how Mira would get pronounced MY-rah all the time and i need to spell it differently. This is why i should keep things to myself....

Puffy--oh i can''t wait to see the sibling dynamic come to life. your boys sound so cute together.

Curly--and speaking of sibs, the girls are hilarious. I could just picture Lily giving Lucy a lesson on farts in the bath LOL
41.gif

Blen--i bought a tub of fresh salsa yesterday b/c of you. Interested to see if Co likes it. Would be a good snack with crackers or baked tortilla chips.
...

And on the topic of names...i think we are still set on emmett for a boy (or max--haha) and for girls we are still currently debating b/w Mira and Katrine (kate)
If we go with Mira the middle name will for sure be Katrine (i like that combo)
if we go with Katrine i am stuck for a middle name. Nothing seems to sound good with it.
But, we are still looking for other options in general. Ugh, so hard. I have a feeling this kid will be nameless for a while if it''s a girl.
....

So Charlie is gone and i find out this morning that the guys didn''t even bring tents to the park with them this year. Um, seriously, it snowed 3 days ago and it''s supossed to rain all weekend and they are out there for a week
33.gif
. I think they have a big tarp or something, but still. duuuumb IMO. oh Men.
He must have felt guilty for leaving b/c he left a note saying he arranged a sitter for tuesday night and a girlfriend is coming to pick me up for dinner. Along with $$ to treat myself to something and 2 video clips for Co to watch (one when he gets up, and one to say goodnight)
41.gif
.

Jas-de-luring to say I love the name Mira! I have a friend named Meera and I think it''s such a pretty name (and regardless of the spelling, it''s not one that people will pronounce MY-ra
20.gif
...

back to lurkdom:-)

Thanks Bella! I''ll have to tell my mother that
2.gif

Had orientation today and decided to take only 2 classes instead of 3. I am really excited but have lots to think about like should I take classes during summer session 2 or just travel? Haha. How important is it to get through this? Why would I wait? Lots of questions.

Bobo, hope your cruise is relaxing and a blast!

Jas12, I am very pleased we chose the name we did. I still and always will love Natalie but I am not sure it would fit her. Plus I never realized how common it was. Having a common name I am drawn to the more uncommon. I love both Emmet and Mira.
2.gif
That is so sweet your DH arranged a sitter and wants you to buy yourself something special!

Ahem. George took FOUR STEPS tonight, running towards ME.
16.gif
He has previously only walked in pursuit of the dogs, and hasn''t reached 4 steps at once until now.

Thanks for the discipline advice, as well as more salsa recs.

Snlee- congrats on another boy!! Hopefully your placenta will move up as your uterus stretches out more.

Curly - they are hilarious. I poop no poop... LOL!

Jas12 - Yikes. The name Myra - I''d pronounce that My-ra. But Mira? I''d pronounce the beginning of that the same as I''d pronounce the first syllable of Miriam or Mirabel - MEER. I asked my husband and he said he''s automatically do the same, unless told otherwise. And then I took a look at the babynamewizard website, who says MEER-uh (primary) or MIY-ruh (secondary). I guess you might get some people saying My-ra, but I don''t think you''d have to correct them more than once. Unless they''re being passive aggressive.
2.gif
I really like Mira. I find girls names really hard as well.

Jas, I like Max for a boy but Emmett is cool too. and I like Mira for a girl. names are always hard. It''s funny though b/c when we named our kids, the names of my girls weren''t popular or common and now they are in the top 10
4.gif
of course I knew Jake was a popular name but It was my favorite boy name so I didn''t care
11.gif
I almost named my oldest Isabella and it''s funny b/c she''s soooo not an Isabella.

tacori, do you have to decide on session 2 right away? if not, maybe wait and see how your classes go and how the workload is first and then you can decide if you want to take a break and travel or just keep going. if you are really wanting to get through your program quickly, i''d say to just go ahead and take a class and try to schedule trips etc. on the scheduled school breaks. I took summer classes for 2 summers when I was in college. I always loved the summer classes b/c they felt shorter and easier
41.gif

blen- YAY for G taking steps
36.gif

Hey gally gals!

Curly, I read your story when you posted it and just laughed so hard. That is priceless. Don''t you wish you could record that kind of stuff? But it just always happens on the fly. I did post an update on my friend on that thread of hers. But she is doing well (tired, of course), so thanks for asking.

Blen, YAY for walking? The world has opened up, and it just gets so much more fun. I LURVE having a toddler!

Jas, I like Emmett...and actually, I like Max! Such a cute name for a boy. And I think I said it before, but I LOVE Mira Katrine as a name. And your Charlie stories are cracking me up.

Tacori, I''m so excited for you and school. I''m all for a balance, so 2 classes and travel is good (but look who you''re asking.)
3.gif

Well, on the Amelia front, we are looking at turning her carseat around, but haven''t done it yet. Her height is actually getting to be an issue now. In order to pull her belt snug across her lap, I have to pull her legs straight, but of course she doesn''t sit that way, causing it to cut into her thighs. If I don''t pull her legs straight and just make it snug across her thighs, there is too much play if she does straighten them. I guess she is the size of a three year old and you don''t see too many of them rear facing. TGuy wants to turn her around so we''ll see...we''ll probably make the decision this week (i.e., when he gets around to doing it.)

In other news, we went to lunch with Amelia''s playdate yesterday (i.e., the screamer). It was the worst I had ever seen him behave in a long time. After Amelia''s nap, she decided to try out everything she saw him do at lunch, which included screeching at the top of her lungs, throwing things at me, and smacking my arm (in the span of 2 minutes). Needless to say, she went into time out. But boy, it truly was EVERYTHING she saw him do at lunch. Good thing she knows that THIS mother doesn''t let her get away with that sh*t.
20.gif

TGAL: oh dear, that''s not good (A''s learned tantrum tactics from screamer). Are you concerned enought to limit exposure? And this is a big milestone--considering turning A''s seat around! I think it makes sense though, her legs are too cramped not to mention straps cutting into thighs. You did a great job!

Tacori:
yay on school starting, and I agree with idea of going slow in the beginning (ie 2 classes).

Took C to a b''day part at a zoo this wkend, and of course it was 90 degree temps. Animals were all passed out and overheated! And so was C! She had such a red face and slumped in her stroller with her giant hat on. DH teases me that C is always the only kid with a hat on. Still we made the most of it and I kept her hydrated. The party was fun and included a ride on the carousel (at the zoo). C did remarkably well on it and enjoyed it, but DH felt a bit woozy, haha.

Just popping in to say Congrats to SNLEE on a little broder for D!
36.gif

Also, Jas, I love all of your names. Did you find it hard to find names that "go" with Cohen? I see Mira and pronounce it Meer-a. But I''ve known one or two, plus the actress Mira Sorvino is what comes to mind. For the most part I think people will get it. But if not, who cares? They may mispronounce it once, but then get it. No one ever pronounces my name right the first time and I don''t really care. I kind of like that not many people have my name so it''s a decent trade-off. We do have some friends that just named their daughter Mila (Mee-la, not My-la) and she is surprised by how many people ask her how to say it. It didn''t occur to them that people would think it was My-la. But then again, I live in Texas.
11.gif
Which is notorious for people saying things "wrong" or perhaps just "differently".

Janine, I''m a being believer in personal accountability. Even though it''s tempting to limit exposure, Amelia is going to be around ill mannered people for the rest of her life. Preschool will probably start sometime this year, so I''m going to encounter the issue sooner or later. I''d rather expose her to it and then show her that we don''t allow that sort of behavior in this house. SHE is to behave appropriately, regardless of what other kids do.

BTW, the screamers mother is the same woman who I am throwing that baby shower for. I love her, but I swear, we are just on two different wavelengths. When he hit her, she kept telling him to stop it, but he persisted. Then she took his hand and lightly swatted it. Did that twice, and then tried to hold his hand hostage (which didn''t last very long).

Later in the phone she apologized for him being bad. I said, no worries, kids wake up on the wrong side of the crib all the time. She said, "But I KNOW what you''re thinking. You''re thinking I''m a bad mom for hitting my kid and that he''s hitting me because I''m hitting him." In actuality, I was thinking, "if you''re really going to use the tactic of hitting him to get him to stop hitting you, you''re going to have to make it register!"

3.gif

On the spanking thread, you probably know how I feel about spanking. I feel the way they spank the kid is ineffective and the wrong way to go about it. She''s probably also the most inconsistent, push over parent on the planet, but she doesn''t see it. As a result, she has a kid who can outwit her at every turn. It''s sad to see.

GAK! I was just wondering today when the preschool might open up for Amelia and they JUST called me and said they have the perfect openings available! So my little girl starts preschool this week!

Eek, so quickly? Time to buy a backpack ;). That''s great they found a spot though..is this 2 hrs a few days a week? I guess she''s 2.5 already?

Oh and good point on accoutabliity, but it does seem like an awful lot of peripheral issues with this one friend. You are much more patient than me!

I know...so STRANGE that today was the first day I thought about it in a long time, and they called me today. This is for 4 hours a day, 3 days a week. I love our current nanny SO much that I am only going to put Amelia in Preschool Wed/Fri, but I still have to pay for all 3 days. No big deal because if my nanny is out sick on Monday, or has to work at her other nanny position (which is possible when the kids in that family are off school for a holiday), I have the option of putting in for the Monday. They take kids in starting at 2 years old.

And I thought today...whoa...have to buy the kid a backpack!

Puffy
Haha....she was slouching and kept turning her head.
So I told her to look at me and stand up *really* tall.
Hope your boys are feeling better today.
Wow....B is a genius.
J''s still a far way off from drawing a straight line :P

Blen
Salsa is definitely veggie.
I''d go even as far counting ketcup as veggie too :P
36.gif
for George walking!

MrsS

for Jake speaking in sentences.
It''s so much fun huh?
Jake looks much taller than J though.

Snlee
Congrats again on a little brother for D.
They''ll be such good buddies.
Yikes for the tanty...but that''s too funny it is because he wants to see more of himself.
I think every kids are self-absorbed :D
J gets a huge smirk on face whenever she''s watching videos of herself.
Have you decided on the progestrone shots?
Do you have to do it early or can you wait until you see signs of pre-term and start treatment?

janine
LOL....."oh man" is probably the least of your worry.
Yay for C talking more.
Enjoy every minute of it!

Jas
Wow....another smarty.
Too funny about your MIL and insisting on "Max".
Did she consult w/ a fortune teller or base it on some herbalist? :)
Love your maternity shots....they are gorgeous, but I have to say that Co stole some of your spotlight :)

sbde
Hope m/s is getting better.
Hang in there...not much longer till the honeymoon stage.

QT
Haha...I thought about cutting up all her onesies and use them as a shirt, but she does look a bit stuffed in in them though.
Yay for M getting less messy w/ the spoon
and yay for the napping/sleeping progress w/ J.
Is he reflux better?

TGal
Somersaults? Wow...I gotta see this on video!
J''s into jumping off beds and couch these days. Instead of sliding off the bed, she''ll do one of those stuntman side-way jump off
20.gif

Bobo
Hope you and B recovered.
And hope you had a relaxing time on your sail.

Tacori
LOL....that''s one reason I haven''t given J gums.
I told her that until she gets all her teeth, then she can try gum and pure chocolate.
They are amazing with the memory huh?
Congrats on your orientation and good luck w/ school on may 24th.

Curly
That is too cute and funny.
The sister dynamics is just too precious.

TGal

I think A will really enjoy since she seems socialable.
And flip her around already ;)

Haha...yeah, I think because of the preschool thing we will. We have to install the second carseat into my mom''s car, so might as well install it forward facing since it will be easier and safer for my mom to put her in that way.

Thanks everyone!

Lots to catch up on. Working backwards here -

lili, guess it''s normal for little ones to like watching videos of themselves. How funny! I''m pretty sure I''m going to do the shots. I have to start before 20 weeks, which is in 3 weeks. I should decide in the next 2 weeks.

TGal, wow, preschool for Amelia, how exciting! She doesn''t need to be potty trained? It''s about time you turned her around! I''m VERY impressed you kept her rear facing for so long!

Tacori, glad your orientation went well!

janine, glad C enjoyed the zoo party.
14.gif
90 degree heat! We''re going to take D to the zoo this Wednesday. I''m looking forward to it.

Blen, ysy for G walking! How exciting! And he took his first steps towards YOU, that''s the best!

Jas12, Mira is a breautiful name. I really like Mira Katrine. I think you''re having a girl. Your MIL is so funny about buying clothes for Max!

Bobo, have a great time on your cruise! Sounds fun!

puffy, boys sound so adorable together, really makes me look forward to having two boys! Can''t wait to see what you get! I''m glad to hear your placenta previa resolved itself both times.

jas, thank you! I always love hearing stories about your boys, really makes me look forward to having two boys!

curly, omg the I poop, no poop story is hilarious!!! Love your girls! They are so silly! I''m looking forward to having same sex siblings! I know how much you love it.

sbde, lili pointed out that I''m carrying the same as last time. And I guess she is right. I pretty much look the same, just a few weeks further along this time. I had different food adversions during the 1st tri but other than that I guess I would say my pregnancies have been similar. I am A LOT more tired this time around but I think that''s normal having a toddler around! Are you going to find out?

----

D has been pooping at night and often wakes up crying in the middle of the night. It''s happened about 4 times in the last week or so. We haven''t been feeding him differently. Anything I can do to help reset his poop schedule? I feel so bad that he keeps waking up with poop!

snlee, do you give him milk before bed? What time is dinner, and what time is bedtime?

And no, Amelia doesn''t need to be potty trained to get in...they charge a fee though until she is. I hear that a lot of kids actually get potty trained while there, so we''ll see.

I think this will be a good experience for me. I''ve been reading reviews and read that they give juice for every snack. I don''t give Amelia juice. I don''t want her to drink juice. I was going to ask if they could just give her water instead of juice. But then I thought...geez, she''s going 2 days a week, which means possibly 2 bits of juice a week. No big deal. She can just learn she can have juice in daycare if she likes it and at home it won''t be an option for a little while longer. At least, that''s how I hope it pans out, lol. Quite possilbe my kid will turn into a raving juice maniac like my friend''s son. I just hope she doesn''t lose the taste for milk like I did once my mom gave me juice. I hated milk for the rest of my life!!!

It''s good to give up a little control, I think!

Dinner starts around 6. Last bottle between 5:30-7. If he drinks milk at 7 it''s only an ounce or twice usually. Bedtime around 7:30.

That would be awesome if she got potty trained at preschool!

I''m not sure they actually do it at preschool, but apparently I''ve heard that kids are more interested after seeing the other kids go.

My only suggestion was to drop the milk before bedtime, but not sure how helpful that advice is. Are you sure he''s actually pooing in the middle of the night? It''s not right before he falls asleep? That''s happened a few times to Amelia. If I check on her a couple of hours after bedtime, she might have pooped before she passed out. She doesn''t actually wake up to poo once asleep.

bobo hope your trip was a great success and you guys had lots of fun.

snlee seriously, you''re going to love having 2 boys. sure i want a girl, but watching B and N together is so much fun and i can''t wait until N is older so that they can really interact. how are you feeling? is your family super excited?

Forgot to answer about your question about subsequent pregnancies.
I don''t have any to compare myself....but both my sisters have very different symptoms and carried differently from their first.
People thought that for sure they were having the opposite sex for the second, but nope....both came out the same as the first.

That''s good that you don''t have to PT A for preschool.
That''s what I heard too about the kid learning PT from school.
So I''m hoping that the older kids in J''s class starts soon since most of them are 2.5 now.
I haven''t officially PTed her, but we did have a few accidents because she insisted to put on her underwear instead of diaper.
And one of the accident was a poop too (fortunately it was a hard one instead of the mushy one. TMI :P)
And was I POed about that one...not because it was an accident, but because I noticed that she was couching and asked if she needed to go to the toilet.
She said no and just smiled and wait for me to step out of the house for 5 seconds to put smoething in the car

Another thing that got me was her wanting to go shishi when we are out in public...and public toilets are not exactly kid friendly.

lili, at least J says something. Amelia is still the queen of the stealth poo. She barely makes a face. It''s more like a pause and a slight holding of breath. And she denies that she did it too, little rat.

And you''re right about public toilets...I''m not looking forward to that. My child is so unco, she can''t pull down her pants or pull them up well yet. Preschool should be interesting considering how uncoordinated she is at some things.

Ah well, if I don''t like it, I can always pull her out, but I''m hoping she''ll like it and I''ll not have any major issues with it.
