I’m helping my best friend plan her Key West wedding. We went to a bridal show on Sunday (I ate way too much cake

) and got a few package details from different vendors. One in particular caught our eye…before we realized that we really know nothing about what prices should look like. We saw a few of their photo albums and checked them out online. They do beautiful work.

Anyway, it’s a $2,500 photography package that includes:

An engagement session
All photos in a CD
All proofs in a book
24 10x10 story books
2 8x10s
1 16x20 portrait
Deluxe video 1-DVD
5 hours of coverage

Yay or Nay and why?

I don''t think you can really evaluate a package until you set your priorities. Mine were a really great coffee table book with enough pages to hold all the photos I loved, unlimited coverage (my photog. ended up being with me from 1 in the afternoon until 10 at night!) and having an assistant for the photog. included.

I don''t know what a storybook is, but if that''s what you want in terms of the album, or if you want to do your own album, that would be great. I would also ask if that package includes the rights to reprint. I would say it sounds like it does since you get the proofs on dvd and in an album, but I''d make sure.

If you truly like the work, and they seemed professional and nice to work with, in my opinion, this is a very good deal. We''re getting a similar set-up for $5,500, but we''re having more hours of coverage, and our album stuff is different than yours.

Wedding photographers are such a personal decision. Ours was the first we interviewed, the most expensive, but we are splurging on it. Too important. Too many of the other ones I saw were soooo cheesy, and this guy''s work was so timeless and classy. Make sure you see what the albums look like! We interviewed one photographer who had beautiful work, but her albums were cheap looking.

Make sure the CD images are high quality. That way, you can make prints later on if you want.

Is he giving you 24 10x10 books, or is it a 24 page 10 x 10 book?

Good question LOL. Definitely writing that one down to ask
