I’m not familiar with the significance of the maker, Walter R Thomas, but as @kenny suggested, it looks like an opal set in the centre.
Is the ring hallmarked for gold?
It’s value will be based on gold value plus some extra for the opal (need better photos but it appears to be white opal). Unless of course the maker is someone special, that adds value.
