Wedding Pretty Please, Dress Help! Take 2

Independent, I will try to hunt down that Reem Acra to try on. I tried on a similar Reem Acra at Mon Amie in Costa Mesa, but it was not strapless. The sample in the store was an 8, and the lining didn''t even fit my behind/hips enough to see what would look like. It''s so hard to tell what the size 8 samples are going to look like when they fit me--I''m so much happier when the samples are a 10 or especially a 12.

I think I''m going to keep trying on dresses at a few more stores and then make a decision. I''m going to be in NY all next week, so unless I try dresses on there, I''ll resume shopping in a week. I''m 8 months out, so I need to make a decision soon!!

Dani--That Reem Acra is gorgeous! I look much better in sweetheart/necklines that dip in a little. Necklines that are straight across seem to give me little bits of fat below my armpits! It may be that my bra size is too large to look good in thatneckline. I tried on pronovias dresses very similar to that Reem Acra that I LOVED, but the chest area was way too small for my 36D to 36DD chest. The seamstress said that the Pronivias gowns had a more european fit and that even if they were ordered larger, the chest area would still be too small.

As my seamstress at Kleinfeld in NYC explained to me, almost everyone, no matter how thin or heavy you are, has that " little bit" of skin below the armpit area when the neckline is straight across like that. Also, its going to be hard to judge if you are trying on dresses that a not properly fitted to your specific shape. You wont have such a problem with a dress that is tailored well to your body.

Definitely seek out that dress that I posted, and similar styles to it....I think it would look lovely on you!! But you have to love it, that's the number one priority!!! Keep us posted!!!!

Yeah, I would keep looking. try on as many different styles as possible to see which one is most flattering. I''m not sure that empire waist style is that flattering on your body type (It wouldn''t be on mine either).

Lili Bridal in Tarzana is awesome. Just make sure you make an early morning appointment.

And I can''t rave about her enough, but Mahtab for alterations!!!!!!!! She is in Lake Forest and she books up rather quickly, so you have to make sure you get to her in time, but she is absolutely amazing. She took my dress in about 3 sizes! Love her!

They are all lovely, and you look beautiful in them. However, some are lacy, some have lots of beading, some are chiffon/flowy, some are minimal beading; the one thing they have in common is the very pretty and flattering sweetheart neckline. What makes you the most comfortable; minimal details or all out glamour? Also, what kind of wedding are you having? Casual and intimate, or formal with all the trimmings? That should come into play when you choose which dress.

Of the four your posted, #1 looks the prettiest, but I think you may still want to keep looking. When I purchased my dress, the owner/consultant pointed out that with larger chests, going really sweetheart will actually emphasize your chest more than de-emphasize it. I''m a 32DD (but only 5''2") and she said going with a really rounded sweetheart neckline would make my chest look like two cantaloupes! LOL. Looking back at the pictures of the other dresses I tried, she was right. But, I''ve always been conscious about my chest and didn''t want to draw attention to the area. If you love your look, then go for it! I think #2''s neckline shape is a little wonky, but I like the slight dip better than the heavy sweetheart neckline.

The reem acra is a gorgeous dress, and I would not throw it out solely because it had a straight neckline. You could always ask and see if they can throw in a slight dip. My dress actually is supposed to have a straight neckline, but the salon found that adding a dip was much more flattering to most women who tried it on.

Since you have such a tiny waist, a mermaid style may really flatter your hourglass figure. Look for the dress to skim your hips and then either come in very slightly before flaring out, or skim your hips, run down straight from their and then flare out.
