So it''a 4:30 in the morning, and I am up writing a post (so obviously I am really stressed).

In my program we are supposed to book elective rotations. A couple of months ago (in early June 2006). The faculty changed the policy, that elective rotations have to be booked 90 days in advance, previously, we needed to be booked 30 days in advance. Anyways, if electives aren''t booked by then, the student loses the elective, takes a month off, and must take the elective AFTER liscensing exam. Which would be in June. Right at my wedding.

So they sent out a mass email with this rule change. Which I either didn''t read, forgot about, or just deleted. My friend came over last night, and mentioned it. I nearly started to cry. My elective is schedualed for October 18, 2008 (so I am a month late). So I am going to call first thing Monday morning and pray for mercy. Or else I will end up working in the days leading and right after my wedding. So bye, bye honeymoon. I am such an idiot.

I need to PS dust that the woman who takes care of this is feeling generous (I don''t know her personally, but she is not known for her genorosity.) I need to some positive vibes ladies. Thanks!

UGH! That sucks!

Sending positive vibes your way!! I hope you''re able to work it out with them. I wish I had a creative answer for you re: having to do it around your wedding... I know it will be stressful though! I''ve been juggling work, classes and wedding for awhile. Maybe she''ll have mercy when you explain the situation to her??

Anyways, GOOD LUCK!

Oh no! Maybe because this is the first semester the change has been effective they''ll be more lenient? Crossing my fingers for you!

ack!!!

.:*:.*:.* Dust Dust Dust *.:*.:*:.

YIKES. That doesn''t sound too good. Usually when a new policy is introduced, they tend to be more lenient for the first batch. I have a feeling they would let you go ahead with it. It''s not 90 days, but it''s atleast 60 days.

I hope it works out for you. Good luck.

Wow that stinks Ally - not just that you forgot, but that they changed the policy and didn''t send out a reminder the first time around!

Hopefully you get someone nice, or a woman who''s daughter is getting married soon and knows what Bride Brain is...I''m sure it will be okay!!

Dust outgoing. I have my fingers crossed for you!

Oh, I''m so sorry Allycat!

Keep us posted.
Big hugs!!!

Oh no-that''s awful! I''m keeping everything crossed for you!

Huge load of DUST!! I hope this worked out for you!!

Yikes, no wonder you''re up so early. I do hope it all works out. I gotta say, getting married should be a pretty good excuse for lenience.

I''m so sorry to hear this. We''ve all hit glitches like this in life. I feel for you. Here''s a boat load of **dust** coming your way so that it works out. Good luck!!

best of luck, and let us know how it works out! *dust*

Tons of dust, Ally! I hope you get it all worked out!

ally, things don''t seems to get any easier for you! I''ll be praying and sending PS dust your way. Good luck!

Oh Ally, how disappointing! Since it''s the first time they''ve done it, perhaps they will be feeling generous. I''m sure you''re not the only person who forgot. I can''t believe they didn''t send out a reminder about it to refresh your memory.

Good luck talking to the people in charge. Be sure to let us know what happens. I''ll be thinking of you and sending dust your way!

Thank you for the positive thoughts. I really think they helped! Yesturday, I talked to the secretary at the hospital (where my elective should take place) and I explained to her everything. She said that it sounded like a miscommunication and she would talk to school secretary (aka BIG EVIL) and see what she could do. Honestly, to me that was really the BEST possoble answer.

Here is how I am thinking...it`s REALLY easy to say ''''NO'''' to a student, school rules...but I think it`s harder to say no to a collegue. So I am going to let her do this (I won`t contact the school secretary unless the answer comes out no.)

I am cautiously optimistic, so I am going to call the hospital secretry this morning just to make sure she got the papers I faxed yesturday.

I have NEVER done anything this blatantly careless. I honestly skimmed the email, and didn`t read it properly. Really, this is my fault. I will say though (in my defense) that they didn`t flag the email as important, and this date change was written at the end of a 5 page document, with ALOT of useless information. Blah. Let that be a lesson...read emails properly.

I hope people decide to take off their evil masks and cut you some slack. Seriously, I think wedding planning should occasionally allow us a "temporary forgetfullness" credit here and there. There''s too much stuff to remember, I can''t imagine trying to make all these plans and decisions while trying to keep track of school stuff. Best of luck!

Oh Ally, that is great news so far! Definitely more promising than a flat out "no." I hope you continue to keep us updated about your situation!

It was accepted!!! I am SO SO happy! I can`t believe it worked out, especially since there have been 6-7 students with the same issue that were refused. Thank you all so much! PS dust has never failed me so far.

I am going to go home and take the LONGEST nap ever, I have been up and worrying for too long.

Congratulations, Ally! That is so fantastic, and you must be so relieved.

Enjoy your nap.

Oh, thank goodness! I had seen this thread earlier, but didn''t have time to post, but I was keeping my fingers crossed for you! I am so glad everything worked out!

! Back in 2005, when I was a REALLY long shot for med school, I asked for some positive thoughts (inteview and result time) and I got in. These gals are really supportive. And really good luck for me.
