He was unusually progressive and I admired his humility and attempt to bring Catholicism to a more moderate level. Even though I'm not religious, I understand the impact and loss of a global leader of a major Christian sect. Condolences to those who mourn his loss.

HI:

I agree Matata. We watched him yesterday on TV and all of us remarked how frail he was. I am glad he was well attended in his passing.

kind regards--Sharon

My condolences to all mourning

He was a Pope known for his empathy, compassion, tolerance and inclusion. He consistently advocated for the poor, migrants and marginalized people. The very things the world needs more of, especially at this time. He was loved and will be missed. It’s a sad day.

I agree with everything you have said. I’m not religious either, but Pope Francis was what could be termed a trailblazer & I hope the next appointee will continue to move in the same direction.

So sad. It's touching that he was able to connect with people again right before he passed, almost like he was able to say goodbye to the world. He seemed to truly care about humanity and showed sincere concern for those who are suffering. He was a good man, may he rest in peace.

I echo everything said above. He was a good human being that brought focus on the things that needed them the most. I hope the next choice is as forward thinking and full of heart.

as a non -Catholic i could feel Pope Francis reaching out to me
i think he was a wonderful person and he will be deeply missed by many
my condolances to Catholics everywhere
i feel deep sadness
but the Pope has earned his rest

Time to watch The Two Popes. "Behind Vatican walls, Pope Benedict and the future Pope Francis must face their pasts and find common ground in order to forge a new path for the Catholic Church."
Beautiful movie. And I'm not Catholic.
