And because I think he is just the cutest thing on the planet, I have to post pictures. He charges the side of the tank when you come in to see him now, he hopes for food and some attention. He is SO cute.

Do you know that this week, my baby is only a tiny bit bigger than him? Kinda freaky to think of it that way!

This is his new setup, which we just got today.

He gets bigger all the time!

Excited to see me - he came swimming up, his little tail wagging like crazy out of the water.

Oops picture fail!

Extreme close up just cause he has cute little eyes. They are turning a pretty gold color now. In my fullsize picture you can see all the striations, it''s awesome.

10 gallon. He could run laps if he wanted to lol.

What a little cutie! Very photogenic!

Wouldn''t he like a little friend?

He''s adorable!! Forgive my ignorance, but what is he?

Enjoy your new friend!

just one more thing that I''m sure you already know... just be really extra diligent about washing your hands, etc. after handling him, or anything from the tank... pregnant women are extra susceptible to salmonella

My husband found him at work and saved him from a mama raccoon and her babies. Oh, and I don''t pick him up at all - I held him once when cleaning his tank and washed my hands afterward right away. Can never be too careful!

And lulu, you gonna bring him a salamander girlfriend? That would be awesome.

I don''t think I''d find one in Michigan. But we happen to be in Fla right now so I''ll keep my eyes open. How will I know it''s a girl? Bow on the head?

Soooooooooooooo adorable! I just want to hug that lil'' critter!

Yes. And she will swish her butt when she walks.

He molted last night, which means he''s growing! He got all stuck in it so we put him in the water and it finally shed off. So he started doing laps in his pool. He is awesome.

Great shots Monkey Pie and what a cute little guy. Until you said he was a salamander I was wondering if he was something akin to a khuli loach - I''m thinking boy her water is clear!

A little off topic, but I know you are something of a photographer. Can you recommend any digital photography forum sites (if that''s allowed), where something of a novice photographer could hone her skills?

I have a couple that I would definitely recommend, but before you even do that, do you use flick-r at all? If you do, look for a local photography group (to you) there because you will likely have at least one local person that would be happy to show you the ropes.

If not, Digital Photography School (just google it) is my absolute favorite, and I used it like crazy when I first began.

So cute:)

GAH!! Too cute!!!
