POLITICAL--Ok, I Gave Him a Chance, Now I'm Done

People will suggest that I'm overreacting and I don't care. Today I asked my husband to inquire with the French consulate as to what requirements I need to meet in order to obtain my French citizenship, which I'm entitled to by marriage. DH and DD are already French citizens. It might, truly, be time to go.

Please adopt me.

Mommy, I wanna go too. ;(

I think you should all start a new colony/expat enclave of US citizens here in Australia or have a working holiday for 4 years. Seriously leave the conservatives who voted for him and continue to defend him to live with the batshit crazy policies he is introducing.....

I'm actually taking bets with my friends that he will be impeached and removed before he serves a full term.

Hmm, I'd wait and see if Marine Le Pen wins the forthcoming election, might not be much better!

Hold the phone. Now there was a lot of disturbing things in that list posted, but this one -

On January 24th, 2017, DT tweeted a picture from his personal Twitter account of a photo he says depicts the crowd at his inauguration and will hang in the White House press room. The photo is curiously dated January 21st, 2017, the day AFTER the inauguration and the day of the Women’s March, the largest inauguration related protest in history.

He is going to hang a picture of the women's March on Jan 21st, one of the largest mass protests (of his policies), in the White House press room, and say it's a picture of his inaguration? This man, how can I put this? does not seem to have a full grip on reality. I would think that would be a minimum requirement of the president of the United States :errrr:

He's not talking to us. He's flipping us the bird. And he knows his devotees are absolutely reality-proof. So why not? Remember, alternative facts. :nono:

This is what a narcissist - aka "crazymaker", does.

Thanks for posting this Monnie. I tried to do a Trumpet today but the news is so revolting and depressing that I just couldn't do it. Several sources have reported that one of his nominees S. Mnuchin and his chief strategist S. Bannon are registered voters in two states. Isn't that ironic....

You know Matata, My heart is sad.. I cannot fathom how we have become this country of white men towering over everyone else, the party that wants less government governs womens bodies and forces their will on the individual. When the government stops funding Planned Parenthood women with breast cancer may go undiagnosed, that young woman who is sexually active with her boyfriend will have to rely on him, or making sure she has some sort of sponge etc.. you know, its policing the morality to women of what men and other women but what the individual may not want.. it's just heart breaking to see us go back to a 50s type world. I'm getting more involved in my democratic party, act locally. (we all know wealthy women will always be able to get a mammo and an abortion). shame shame on the republicans.

I've been thinking about this PP thing for a few years now. What would happen if PP stopped taking government funding, period? What if PP started becoming more volunteer-based, and solicited more donations from private citizens/entities? (Go Fund Me campaigns, etc.) I am so sick of the debate about this one particular organization that I wish there was a way for PP to say F You to the government and get away from any funding from it whatsoever.

I wonder sometimes if people who are SO against PP receiving government funding have ever even been inside one. I can tell them that they aren't using that money for abortions, and they certainly aren't using it for brand new equipment, and they certainly aren't using it for making their offices posh. Oh, and there aren't any fetuses in jars of formeldahyde sitting around, either.

Any Trump supporters care to comment on the fact that he's advocating for war crimes?

Oh, like torture? Surely someone so concerned about human rights wouldn't resort to such.

Agree with Snowdrop--although I'm hanging onto optimism there.

I'm laughing because my slight (very slight) moment of 'phew, at least I'm not there' has evaporated in the face of Theresa May travelling over to lick the orange windbag's boots because Britain is so desperate for a post-Brexit trade deal.

I'm not saying TRump didn't turn out to be a total President Scrrob, because from what I've seen so far, he must be senile and living in his own imagination and he needs to be replaced. But, living in a poor area, I can say that we do have 3 facilities here that provide ob/gyn services and are not Planned Parenthood. Being that this is both a heavily Catholic and a welfare recipient locale that is becoming increasingly more rural, I don't think there is actually the demand for abortion services that one would expect. Children out of wedlock has been the norm here for some time, for blacks and whites now, too. Have a baby out of wedlock with no money, and there are social services galore to help you, and relatives glowing over it as if one had actually accomplished something in life instead of just let biology and physiology and questionable judgement run their programmed course. WIC, healthcare, dental care, housing, tuition assistance, the benefits far outstrip any stigma because the benefits are worth far more than the max $20,000 a year no benefits that the average unskilled single woman here can earn. It would boggle the minds in more prosperous and urbane areas to see what an economic force the transfer payments from the government are in the dead Rust Belt regions. There is a whole healthcare industry set up in here to serve the healthcare needs of those who live on government assistance. It's a gravy train, and people know how to ride it. Until Republicans derail the gravy train, and I am sure that's coming because it's too much money going out to lazy unproductive people, lots of people here have it nicer than working, considering they have no real skills except making babies which just bring in more money.

Abortions, like I said: They don't want 'em. Everyone here is antiabortion because it's a sin to kill a baby. No woman is worth more than a fertilized egg or fetus, ever. No woman should ever want a d**** thing for herself. she should sacrifice herself for children and the family. My sister told me I should tell anyone that I'm pro-choice, and she was shocked an horrified to learn that both our mother and I are and have always been, staunchly pro-choice. You could see there recoil. The local Planned Parenthoods offer the morning after pill, but it's a 130 to 140 mile round trip drive to find a Planned Parenthood that actually performs abortions.

Curious as to whether you are talking about the abortion pill or emergency contraception pills? Plan B One-Step are sold at Target/drugstores in many areas, not sure about yours. If the only outlet for those in your area is PP, that's insane.

I have said and will always say (until the issue is resolved, obv) that the whole problem stems from lack of sex education. People flip out at the word "pussy" and costumes depicting vulvas worn in public because WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN. Yet there is still this attitude of Oh, that poor girl got herself in trouble, didn't she? She should've known better. Now she needs to grow up and deal with the consequences of her actions. (Never mind said girl likely thinks she urinates out of the same place babies come out.) :angryfire:

ETA: sorry, couldn't figure out how to quote AB's post properly.

As for the notions of VOTER FRAUD (Mr. Trump's all caps) from what discredited blog or which unscrupulous advisor is the President getting this craziness? Or is he just making it up? Does he really believe it? Is it just the height of cynicism and distraction? None of these options are in the least bit comforting. But most Republicans in Congress seem just fine silently nodding along as long as they get their “conservative” (reactionary, in the view of opponents) agenda enacted. On policy, they have every right. They won their elections and that merits respect, no matter how grudging. But the tone and content of the falsehoods and sheer propaganda originating from the White House is another matter - and that is not to be respected.
Why he bring up this topic?... He is already in the WH.
