Proboscis monkey

Pygmy squirrel - about as big as a thumb!

Red langur - aka little aliens in red fur coats

Harlequin tree frog - This is a flying frog. Everything seems to fly in Borneo. There are flying frogs, flying lizards, flying squirrels, flying lemurs, flying snakes..

Cordyceps fungus - it has taken over a wasp and grown straight out of its brain. Nightmarish stuff!

I think it might be a Wood Stork.

Cool thank you! its a new bird I haven't seen before I see usually lots of spoonbills around here. None yet. I never seem to have the ability to get freaking pictures when I have the dog with me.

So lately I've been down at the local harbour a fair bit doing some fishing and noticed that there was a tonne of baitfish around the rock walls that protect the harbour itself a few weeks ago. I had remarked previously how I hadn't caught any predators there but they can't be far away.

The next trip I made down there I captured a 500-600lb Bronze Whaler Shark get airborne, then a week later we spotted another smaller specimen around 300lb cruising around the rock wall. Usually we see smaller fish in the 100-150lb sizes this time of year but right now there's some bloody big ones about feeding on all the baitfish.

Hopefully they leave the swimmers alone that are on the beach at the end of the rocks every day when it's warm.

Thanks for sharing these lovely pics of your local wildlife Missy! Most of ours are nocturnal so we hardly ever get to see them unless we stay up really late.

I went fishing with a friend last Friday evening, here is a phone photo I grabbed as the evening was coming to a close.

Great evening of fishing too. We caught about 50 bass, released all of them, with the smallest being just under a pound and the largest six or seven were at or just over 3 pounds.

We heard quail, pheasant and chucker, saw ducks, geese and a large flock of curlews and a heard of nine elk coming to the pond for water just a few minutes before I shot this picture.

A heron, named Hero by my twins, came for his annual visit at the cottage yesterday. He took off so fast, I barely had time to grab my phone; hence, blurry pic.

@Fabfashion that is a great photo of Hero. :kiss2:
Speaking of herons here are ours. Spotted while I was jogging early morning on the trail by the bay.

@missy, what a great trail for a run! Your herons are white, very pretty. Ours seem to be gray, I think they’re called blue heron. I only saw two together only once.

I looked it up, they’re cousins! According to Wikipedia: “Egrets are herons that have white or buff plumage.” Cool, learn something new everyday. Don’t let Mr. Hero hear this but I prefer his white cousin. Lol.
