My daughter tried out for the "Nutracker" this afternoon... 67 kids tried out... 4 will make it. Call backs are posted tomorrow @ 2:00 EST... so we need a little finger crossing!!
oooh.. what part did she try out for?! My neice was in the nutcracker last year, but she was something silly like a flowerpot.. Thats right.. a flowerpot.. Those don''t move.. She was on stage for like 2 minutes where she basically waved her arms around and stood up and twirled around once or twice..
I will hum the dance of the sugar plum fairy, and the march of the wooden soildiers as I keep my fingers crossed for your daughter - good luck sweetie :}
The NUtcracker here is a HUGE hoopla... many people from the nearby cities come to watch it. It is even performed on the UNiversity's theatre. You have to be at least 8 to try out and dancing for at least 3 -4 years. YOu have to have had both ballet and either jazz or tap. You are given a set of routines and ou have to learn them independantly for 20 minutes, then you are asked to perform them in front of a panel of "judges"... it is really a hard audition. She is competing for a part against many dancers who are older than her by 3 years.
As for the part.. she did not specify, in hopes that if they find a perfect character for her than she will be cast...
Yug.. I have butterflies in my stomach.. 2 hours until they post call-backs...
Thank you everyone for your "finger crossing" I told her all about it... She said... "REALLY, people from all over the world hope I get the part... WOW.. that's huge!!!"
