Hey all,

Spent some time at the recent JA-NY show which was a gas. Looks like we''ll be picking up a few new lines of settings and a new cut. Here are some pix I took while there. This first one I took while at a stop light on the way there. We were at the base of the Empire State building and just thought it was a neat shot.

The Jacob Javits center has some neat architecture. These next shots are in the entrance.

I love this shot.

Here a shot of Jim Caudill, inventor of the ASET and myself at the AGS booth. Jim and I are fellow classic rockers.

My bro-in-law Chas and my younger sister Amy.

This lady kept staring at me and asked if I would take a picture with her so I thought I''d accommodate.

Thanks Sun! Photography and videography are 2 of my other passions. Everytime I go into the city I feel naked without my camera.

We chatted for a while too and she wasn''t snobbish at all. I thought that was very cool. I love her accent too but told her I was already taken.

While at JA did you happen to see the Twin Towers commemoration piece by Nayna Mehta? Rap news had these photos but I'm hoping to see some other shots as well.

News_TwinTowers.jpg

Any photos on the Rhinocam?

Here are some details for those interested: 14,080 princess cut diamonds, measuring 1.4 mm each were used to create the towers. The base and supporting structure are 18k yellow gold. It took 38 artists and jewelers 25 weeks to create. A percentage of proceeds from its eventual sale will be donated to a charity supporting 9-11 victims. The base is engraved with a poem written by the designer in memory of the lives lost:
Those innocent souls, we never forgot
United us all in a single breath.

We shed not tears, only our doubts,
Vowed to destroy all vicious clouts.

Stronger we rose, with a will so bold,
As hard as diamonds and as pure as gold.

Victorious we emerged, its plain to see,
So come join this anthem and sing with me.

God Bless America

Hey SDL,

Yummies would be an understatement.

I have to admit ... I am terrible at these shows. I find it hard to say no to many things which is why my sis and others have to come along for a final approval. Heh... I''d take as much as I could (at least of the good stuff).

Mrs S!

If you ever find you way up north here and don''t make it to my store I''d be upset.

Even though we have never met I feel I know ya since I read so much of your postings which are always positive and encouraging. I hope to one day meet you face to face as well as all the others here who help on this forum. I know, regardless of seeming differences at times, that everyone here, at heart has the best interests of the consumer in mind and that is a good thing, of which you''re a fine example.

Greetings SIR JOHN!

Hope this post finds you well. As it is with most shows I never find all the time I''d like to see and walk up each and every isle and I regret having missed this masterpiece. Thank you kindly for posting this and the poem. It certainly strikes a chord. I have to tell ya ... today in NY I think it was hotter here for a change than in your neck of the woods for a change. I think it hit the 100 mark!

How are things down in good ol Texas?

Kind regards,

Great pictures!!!!!

Looks like there was a LOT to see!!!

Hi Carlotta!

Thanks! My gosh ... TONS TO SEE. After the show we were all starving and you can only tolerate so much of "show food" (not the best, but not the worst either) and we walked one block north to a small bar/cafe. Appeared to be a hole in the wall kind of joint and were reluctant to eat but a dude standing on the corner who worked at the Javits told us to check it out and that we''d be impressed. I''m not quick to believe everyone standing on a street corner in NY but since there was no restaurant in site we thought we''d give it a try. WAS I SHOCKED! Wings, quesadillas, stuffed mushrooms, and steak tips ... some of the best I''ve had!!! The only wings I could compare them to were the excellent ones we get at Outback with their cuckaburow wings.

All the stuff was good for a new diabetic too.

(I''m being very careful about my diet).

Kind regards,

Jonathan,
You can definitely count on a visit from me if I''m ever up your way. You''re on my list along with the many other wonderful PS vendors that I''d love to go to. My hubby thinks I''m nuts b/c whenever we travel I look to see if there''s a PS vendor in the area

Is that not Rachel Hunter or am I going cuckoo for cocoa puffs?? Wow! And what rock was that she was wearing on her necklace?

I sure do miss NYC, looking at all those pictures! What fun!!!

Jonathan, Those pics are amazing! I love the one of the Empire State Building & the skyline outside the Javits center. I heart NYC

Save your appetite if you do.

Hi FireGoddess
35.gif

Yep... that''s Rachel. Funny thing ... we were walking up the isle and what stood out (besides how pretty she is) is she was wearing heals that made her over 6 feet tall! So her height stature initially caught my attention, then when I saw her I knew exactly who it was.
3.gif
The stone around her neck was a yellow stone, perhaps a citrine. The company she was working with is featuring a colored stone line so while I was chatting with her
31.gif
I had Tim check out the goods to see if it was anything we''d be interested in. Good thing I hired Tim, I''d have no time for the more important work!
37.gif
hehe

BTW if I never told ya ... I LOVE YOUR AVATAR. The pear looks beautifully cut and unfortunately pears and marquises have grown less and less in demand these days but I really love the honies still (meaning pears and marquises).
2.gif

Did you used to live here in NY? I always thought I''d like to live in the city ... perhaps for a year or so ... do everything there is to do, get it out of my system then move back to Long Island.
3.gif
I really do love it everytime I come.

Hi Danielle!
35.gif

How have you been dear? (you know I wub your avatar too!) Thanks for the kudos on the pix. I just love taking landscape shots like those too. I''m heading up to the store a little later, I have one for ya that you''ll really like I''ll post. NY hearts you right back.

Warm regards,,

Here are 2 of my favorites shots on top of the Empire. Shortly after I had purchased my newest wide angle lens (16mm wide angle) I just had to make the trip to the top again to snap these off. I had printed them on 13 x 19 glossy and hte prints were just breathtaking. I wound up giving them away to folks who loved em so I''ll have to print others to hang in the store. Hope you like em.

Here''s the 2nd. I wish I had the gear I had now and had made it up to the World Trade Center. I''ve been to the top of that before and the view was absolutely incredible as well. I love the contrast of the sky against the skyline in this shot.
