And you still have not answered my question, how did you make this determination about bias? Because I am a conservative you assume it? The whole thing is a mess. The fact that I cannot find any liberal news outlet posting anything about the mess left behind is telling about their bias.
It was an assumption that you wouldn't bash a Katrina victim for leaving their dog behind. Has NOTHING to do with you being a conservative. I haven't heard anyone every bash a Katrina victim for leaving their pet behind during the evacuation. But here you are posting about these protesters leaving their pet. It was never about you not caring for animals. I should know better than to assume anything about anyone though. Perhaps you do feel the same hatred towards the Katrina victims for leaving their animals, in which case my point is a million times wrong. If you don't feel that way, then I think my post and points were still justified.

On a side, related ish note. I find this whole protest very weird. It was to stop this pipeline to protect the earth/drinking water. But people flew/drove in from all over the world, using fossil fuels. People built camps on the sacred land (and some burned them when leaving). Its like the point of the protest went out the window, which makes it so much less effective IMO.

I will agree with your second paragraph. However comparing a natural disaster to this mess is not equal.

Oh they are so cute!!!!

I will say it - to satisfy your unrelated curiosity: Yes, I DO have 'anger' toward people (who DID/WERE ABLE to 'know better') who left their pets behind during Katrina. They had advance warning/evacuation orders, many lived below sea level, this is not rocket science. I won't get into the politics of who (local/state/fed) could have done more to help, though. But the critical difference here is that one scenario was a matter of 'life or death'; people who occupied the Dakota land did so WILLINGLY. No one forced them to go camp out there. It was their CHOICE. Hardly the same as the Katrina situation.

On your latter point, I agree, and made the same comment further up.

They had to stop accepting applications for homes because they got so many! At least these puppies will have a happy ending. Rescue groups are so valuable imo.

This is on the 'Furry Friends Rockin' Rescue' fb page, the ones who were first out there.

Omgaahh I want them
eta - here is the donation page should you like to help them out http://www.furryfriendsrockinrescue.org/donation/

I want the pups so much!!! If only we could have non-hypoallergenic dogs. Love their little tri-colored faces. No matter what happened or how/why they were left behind, I hope they go to loving homes--either back with their owners or with new owners who will give them the love they deserve.

I am glad to hear this. I hope they received many donations also because I am sure they need them. People would not have been aware outside the local area had publications like these not made the information known.

Some of the posts on this topic are laughable.
I'm an activist but never an environmental activist. Yet I would never leave my trash behind much less abandon a pet. Safe to say no one posting here would be so irresponsible. Yet, some just can't say anything negative about these particular protesters, even trying to defend them. I don't get it.

Thanks for letting us know the pets have homes. Great news.

First, because my dog is a border collie/shepherd mix, she surely would have found a car, hot wired said car, and driven herself home...if she had been left behind at such a scene.

If not, my ass would have been on the phone calling someone to rescue her! Holy crap, how can someone sleep at night, knowing their baby is freezing outside in the snow?!?!

Maybe their owner is still in jail on other warrants?

Sigh...

I know right? I cannot even imagine leaving any one of my furry kids like that.

Not only did the environmental protesters leave an ecological mess, rescue volunteers are finding pets left behind with frostbite. Puppies found also.

http://www.lifezette.com/polizette/dakota-access-protestors-leave-abandoned-frost-bitten-dogs/

excerpt:

The two dogs the group rescued reportedly show signs of exposure to the brutal North Dakotan cold, with frost-bitten ears and mangy fur. The reports of the cast-aside canines follow news of the grave environmental threat to the Missouri River posed by the almost unfathomable amount of waste left at the site by protesters, a threat so grave it compelled North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum to sign an emergency evacuation order.

I read that the police forced them out and didn't give them a lot of time to pick up.. as to the dogs :(

This was a protest - the state wanted them out. I'd say both sides de-escalated :)

Lizette is a notorious right wing site started by Laura Ingraham.. I detest her haughty attitude.

You cannot get a fair and accurate account from LIzette since it is like Fox, it's geared to the right and conservatives. So if you read LIzette and a few left sites you might get the full pix.

They were given many days of notice to leave. If you wait until the last minute that is a personal choice and I have no sympathy for them, other than the animals. Please read the rest of the thread with other links to sites about the animals. Like I said I could find no liberal outlet with info on the abandoned animals.

I read many publications but thank you for your concern on my reading habits. :wavey:
