Hello everyone, we’re looking to take the kids to Pigeon Forge this week for spring break but are concerning about the wild fires in TN right now. Is anyone living there can let us know if we should continue with our trip or not?
I grew up about 1.5 hours south of the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area and have many friends that live there. It seems like the fires have been extinguished or at least largely contained since 4/6-4/7, so you should be good to go. Also, they were on the opposite side of Dollywood, so you should visit there for sure!! Have fun!
Gatlinburg and Sevier County burned the night of Nov. 28, 2016. Extraordinarily dry conditions, combined with a wind storm with hurricane-like power and a problematic fire in a hard to reach spot at the Chimney Tops trail, created hell on one of the prettiest places on God’s Earth.
