Yay booze!

Wine: Riesling! Mmmm...

Beer: NOPE! I like Ace Pear Cider and Woodchuck Cider...that''s as close to beer as I get.

Mixed Drink: #1-screwdriver. That''s what I drink most of the time. I also love a good margarita and a good mojito, but they''re hard to come by so I usually stick with screwdrivers. There''s one restaurant I like to go to that makes amazing margaritas and one restaurant that makes amazing mojitos, and that''s what I get when I go to those spots!

Shot: NOPE!
14.gif

P.S. TravelGoddess-I''m going to have to try the skinny girl margarita! I''m no mixed drink whiz, but I''m going to try to make that!

Ditto T2...yay booze!

Wine: My major weakness in life...sauvignon blanc is my fave, followed by pinot grigio. I don''t drink red.
Beer: Varies, I like mich ultra lime cactus though, low cal and yummy!
Mixed Drink: Gin and tonic, margarita, or bourbon and diet.
Shot: Ughh....tequila maybe? Been YEARS since I took a shot!

Champagne:
Vintage rosé Veuve Cliquot
Pol Roger
Nicholas Feuillatte

Beer: Corona

Mixed: Bombay Sapphire & tonic with lime

Straight: Grey Goose Vodka straight from the freezer over ice with olives.

On the beach: Mojitos

Heck now I need a voddy before I go to bed!

Wine: I live in Western Australia, so we have alot of good wine at our fingertips. For reds I love cab sav. The only white wine I drink is a New Zealand sav blanc from the Marlborough region...yum!!! Oh and they also make the most amazing Pinot Noir in that region as well
18.gif

Beer: I think our tastes are alot different to those in the US. I like wheat beers (loved going to Belgium...so much choice) and microbrewerys are big down here. Usually though I like Coopers sparkling or pale ale, Redback or Little Creatures Pale Ale.

Mixed drinks: vodka lime and soda or vodka and cranberry usually. My new summer drink that I discovered this year though was vodka, apple juice and ginger beer yum yum!!

Shot: haven''t done one in years, but tequilla on a big night out
27.gif

Wine: Cabs, Pinot Noirs and Sauv Blanc

Beer: Many, but no crappy stuff. Normally we have Fat Tire or Coopers Pale Ale (Aussie Beer) in the house.

Mixed Drinks: hardly ever, but if I have anything it's only Ketel One and Soda. Used to do vodka martinis but no more.

Spirits: favs are Cognac - Hennessy XO (neat), Jameson's (neat or on the rocks), Scotch (all kinds, neat) Blends (Johnny Walker Blue, of course neat).

I don't like sweet alcoholic drinks.
14.gif

Ooh, this is a fun thread!

I don''t drink much, but when I do this is what I prefer:

Wine: This is very embarrassing, and I wouldn''t admit this to anyone in person, but I LOVE
30.gif
Manischewitz Elderberry wine. I don''t order it when we''re out of course, but I do love it at home. I think it''s because we used to get a teeny tiny dixie cup of it for Shabbat at camp growing up, so I have very strong and very wonderful memories associated with it. That''s my excuse, at least.
(I''ve been drinking it all day, actually, as I prepare our Passover seder! It''s so GOOD.)

Beer: Bass. I don''t bother with much else.

Cocktail: Effen Black and Sprite. With a cherry, please.

Oh, I do like Fat Tire, too. That''s probably one of the only beers I''ll get other than Bass. They just started selling it in the Chicago area within the last few years, I remember being very excited when I saw it on the shelf!

TG
since you are buying...i''ll have a double shot of Martell Cordon Bleu.

Wine: Rose
Beer: Corona with a lime
Mixed: try and avoid them after having a bad experience years ago! Maybe S*x and the beach if I had to have one or a Cosmopolitan
Shot: Baby Guinness-could drink these all day!

French red - cotes du rhone usually.
I don''t care for white wine, it gives me heartburn and a horrible headache, but I do drink champagne occasionally. My father gave me some crates of champage a few years ago and we''re still working our way through them. It''s lovely - quarter bottles of vintage champagne with a straw for each bottle. Perfect for picnics and moments of decadence.

Gin and tonic or Jack Daniels and a splash of coke.

Proper beer, in a proper pint glass, and never lager. Needs to be real ale, gravity pumped, from a brewery within 30 miles of where I''m drinking it or I''l rather have a gin and tonic. Picky!

Thing, I don''t care for beer either, as a rule. HOWEVER, do yourself a favor and try Lindeman''s Framboise Lambic. Seriously. It''s beer, but it''s finished with fruit - raspberries, cherry, or peach. I like the raspberry the best, then the cherry, peach not so much. But that raspberry. Yum. Intensely fruity and nice and tart, and purt durn strong.

I''ll see if I can dig out my friend''s margarita recipe and get it to you. He made the margaritas for my wedding party. All top grade liquors, hand squeezed key limes (he and a friend squeezed the limes for 150 drinks: that''s TRUE friendship), and finished with just a little bit of corona beer. I kid you not, they are the best I''ve ever had.

You oughta try it with a cupcake. No. Really.
3.gif

I''m not a beer or wine drinker so I tend to go for the hard stuff. My tolerance for liquor is actually higher than with wine, so odd. Anyway, I like maker''s mark, kettle one and gosling''s dark rum (for dark and stormys...mmmmm).

Not much of a wine drinker... it gets me drunk too quickly and I get headaches from it
14.gif

Beer... I think I drank so much beer in college that I can''t really stand it anymore. I like Woodchuck. And Twisted Tea.

Mixed drink... I''ll take a Cap''n and Coke.

Shot... To get drunk --> So Co & Lime
Take it easy --> Fruity stuff, Red headed sluts, Swedish Fish... there are so many. A friend of mine bartends and makes a shot called Jamaican milk... I don''t know what''s all in it, but I know it has bailey''s. It''s delish
18.gif

HH, mine too. I can drink as many gin and tonics as the bartender can pour, but two glasses of red wine and I''m in a state.
2.gif

Vodka tonic with a lime. Absolute favorite. I also like Jack Daniels and diet coke

We often get 2-Buck Chuck too.
$1.99 for a bottle of wine is the deal of the century!!!
Usually it ain''t too bad.

I think it is 3 bucks in some states.
It''s $3 here... still a good deal and we usually buy it by the case.

elrohwen, my fiancé is a big tequila fan too. I''ve got him drinking ''skinny girl margaritas.'' He mixes Patron, the juice of half a lime and a tiny splash of Cointreau over ice. Salts the rim if he''s feeling adventurous. It''s his favorite mixed drink now.

charbie, our house is always stocked with Fat Tire. FI is demanding it at our wedding reception! I also cannot shoot tequila. It''s about the only thing I will not be peer pressured into drinking when out with friends. And you love champagne too! We must be kindred spirits (pun intended!)
That sounds just like my margarita (though I use two shots, plus juice of one lime, plus half shot of triple sec). I think I invented the skinny girl margarita ... where are my royalties?!!
3.gif

Actually, my friend started making them when we went to the Bahamas a few years ago. Hard alcohol was so much cheaper than beer and wine, so I had to find some mixed drink I could enjoy, and margaritas was it. I''ve been making them ever since.

Smurfyimproved and Kenny's threads got me thinking. If you're a drinker, what's your drink of choice? I have favorites depending on what kind of alcohol I'm drinking.

Wine: A nice oaky chardonnay. (Cakebread and Rombauer are my personal faves)

Beer: Corona with a lime (no glass necessary!)

Mixed Drink: Absolut Citron and Tonic with a twist of lemon AND lime.

Shot: Something girly. Washington Apple or Lemon Drop.

I don't drink anything 'straight up.' If I'm truly honest with myself, I usually prefer a nice glass of very dry champagne. But then people always ask me what I'm celebrating. I also love me a pina colada when poolside or on vacation!

Hi Travel goddess,
I don't drink wine or beer though I do like a german Reisling if I was to drink wine.
My mixed drink of choice is tanqueray and tonic with a lime slice for warmer weather and margarita straight up or a Dark and Stormy (ginger beer and rum)for cooler temps.
For shots- lemon drop sounds lovely

Love your choices! Cotes du Rhone (or American wines in the same style) are my fav. And what you call "proper beer" as well! Though in America, we have good lagers as well. When I was in the UK "lager" only referred to crappy beers like Bud Lite, but here we have a lot of heavier lagers that are just as good as the ales. But yeah, anything fresh and local is amazing.

BEER!

We always have New Belgium products at our house.. including Fat Tire on draft. We live in Michigan so we stock up everytime we go to Chicago or Indiana. Just had the opportunity to try their new IPA... Ranger and it''s delicious. If you like IPA''s I would recommend that you try it. Yum!!!!

I actually just tried Magic Hat''s new seasonal beer this weekend called Vinyl. It''s pretty good. I''d get it out if I didn''t see anything else that I liked.

I''ll also drink the following anyday:

Sam Adam''s Octoberfest, Winter Lager
Sierra Nevada''s Torpedo

Sometimes I crave Cherry Moon''s. Ever had that? It can be made a couple different ways. It''s 1/2 Sam Adam''s Cherry Wheat and 1/2 Bell''s Oberon or you can substitute Oberon for Blue Moon. YUM! Those are delicious.

Alright I could talk about beer all day. Pathetic, huh?

oooh, Haven, I like that wine too LOL and also of course only drink it during the Seder

My dh says it is grape juice...but I notice he drinks it right up!

Wine: I love pretty much all types of wine, except very full bodied reds and oaked chardonnays. My favourites would be a nice, crisp sauv. blanc, a sweet gewurztraminer or riesling and a fruity light-medium bodied beaujolais or merlot.

Beer: A fruity Belgian wheat beer
18.gif
, pale ales or pilsners when I'm in a pub watching hockey

Mixed drink: amaretto sours and fruity (but not too sweet) martinis

Shots: Don't really do shots, but back in the day, I would do tequila. Surprisingly, it was the only taste I could swallow and didn't give me a nasty hangover the next day.

Wine: Wine is yuck.
Beer: I hate beer.
Mixed Drink: Amaretto sours!
Shot: if I must, then lemon drops aren''t bad.

Beer: I never drink it

Wine: if I'm in the mood for a white - dry riesling, red -syrah or a malbec. I also enjoy champagne, sparkling strawberry wines and I love a good ice wine

Mixed: Some type of martini either plain vodka, or something desserty if I'm in the mood like keylime or chocolate. I also had a really good gin drink the other month that I'm now obsessed with - gin, muddled strawberries and basil.

Shot: I never drink them

HAHA! Yay! I live in Ohio, where we cannot yet get Fat Tire. It is a must whenever I go somewhere and they have it. I like to bring some home whenever I get the chance. That''s funny about the tequila. I really wish it didn''t taste like gasoline to me. I''ve even tried Patron Silver and others- I just cannot find one that is even remotely appealing. However, I don''t mind it in a margarita- go figure.

And champagne. Oh champagne. How I love thee. I even can do a cheap-o $10 bottle and sip on it all night. I''ve been known to take down a whole bottle and say, "Huh?? Where did that go???"

HH, you, M, and I should get together. He just made me promise that this summer we''ll hang out on the porch watching thunderstorms drinking dark and stormys.

Beer. I don''t really drink very much or often, but I do enjoy beer....

Fun!

Beer: I will drink most microbrews, but my favorites are ESBs. Pretty much the only beer I don''t really care for is Hefeweizen (sp?). It''s too sweet and sometimes has banana overtones, which kind of grosses me out. Lately we''ve been experimenting with some heavier belgian style beers as well as making our own. Home brewing is awesome!

White Wine: I tend to go for dry whites: sauvignon blanc, pinot blanc, chardonnay, etc. Lately I''ve been getting really into dry reislings. FI really likes pinot gris/grigio but I am a little pickier about those. We also drink a lot of sparkling whites/champagne. There is an awesome crémant de bourgogne blanc de noirs at Trader Joes for about $10 bucks that we really like.

Red Wines: We probably drink mostly pinot noir, but we also like lots of other varietals (Cab Sauv, Merlot, Syrah/Shiraz, Grenache, etc.). I''m a big Cab Franc fan. We also drink blends fairly often--we picked up an awesome Meritage from a winery in Sonoma when we were down there last.

As far as wine in general, I don''t think I could name wineries that are my absolute favorite because the wines change so much from year to year and I have different favorites in different places. I love recommending places for people to taste when they go to wine country though.

I can''t think of the last time I did shots, but for mixed drinks, I usually go for something gin based (especially if it has lime and cucumber as well--yum!). I will really try anything as long as it''s not overly sweet/syrupy. FI makes awesome margaritas with patron silver, fresh squeezed lime juice, cointreau and a drizzle of grand marnier on top (sounds really similar to the skinny girl margaritas brought up earlier). I love cocktails made with unusual flavors. Lately we''ve been experimenting with chartreuse, which is an herbal liqueur that lends a really neat flavor. Really the biggest turn off to me about any sort of drink is if it has sweet & sour mix or soda or juice from concentrate in it. I am not a high fructose corn syrup fan and I prefer my juices fresh squeezed.

I like tequiila, but I''m also not sipping it straight up. Even if I make a really strong margarita, I need that lime and bit of triple sec to be able to drink it. I also only like the silver tequilas though - not the dark ones. I''ve found some cheaper ones that taste just as good as Patron (at least in a mixed drink) but I''m trying to get even cheaper and bought some silver Jose the other day. We''ll see how it is.
