Hi everyone!

I''m getting married next week, and as the date draws closer, I am getting more and more anxious about our wedding pictures. I tend to shy away from having my pictures taken in general, and don''t think that I am photogenic at all. I take one good photograph out of five. Usually, I''m the one behind the camera. On top of that, I am still having issues with my skin breaking out, and my blemishes are leaving dark marks on my skin. I am trying my best not to stress out, but I''m so worried that our pictures will turn out horribly -- that I''ll ruin our photos.

I think my FI and I lucked out on our photographer -- he''s absolutely amazing (my favorite as soon as I found him), and if we were having a traditional wedding, I don''t think we could have afforded him (his packages start around $9000), but because we are eloping, we''re getting an amazing deal. Our photographer has a blog that he keeps -- not only is he an amazing photographer, he''s an accomplished writer (he just had a piece published in the New York Times opinion section). I think what is adding to my anxiety is that on his blog, he often posts about the weddings that he has taken pictures for. EVERYONE on the blog looks AMAZING -- and I''m not exaggerating. I don''t know if he posts about every wedding, and if he does, I worry that we''ll be so horrible that we won''t make it there.

I know that it is a really silly to be this anxious about photos and a blog, and I wonder if I''m putting undue pressure on myself because it''ll be the only "memento" that we have of our wedding since we''re "eloping". I don''t know if that makes any sense.

i had the exact same fears getting our e-pics taken last week; not that the pictures would be bad, but that i''d ruin them.

i talked to the photographer beforehand and i let her know that even though it is ''ridiculous'', that i''m super self conscious about my nose, smile, profile, arms, calves, etc (the list went on) and during the shoot she was really mindful of that and made adjustments during some shots. i''m sure that the photographer will get a TON of shots where you aren''t even cognizant of his presence, hence your anxiety about the camera will be lower and you''ll be more relaxed, thus likely more photogenic.is there a particular expression that you usually make in pictures that makes you think you''re not photogenic? if so, (and i know this sounds ridiculous) maybe spend some time in front of the mirror and find an expression that you think is more neutral or subtle (like a half smile or something) that you can use during the shots afterwards.

besides, you could be the least photogenic person in the world and there will still be beautiful images from the day that would probably make it into the blog. i understand the fear though - the people in the engagement shoots before us were all GORGEOUS, and i''m still trying not to get my hopes up that our pictures will be decent.

that said, don''t worry - i bet the pictures will be amazing, especially considering how talented your photographer sounds!

Okay so you say you take about 1 good photo in 5. That means if your photographer takes 300 shots, that leaves you with 60 great ones! If he takes 500 shots, you have 100 great ones!

Remember, on his blog he is posting just a few amazing shots out of hundreds of frames! Besides, you will be you looking your absolute best for you wedding. You are your own worst critic, and chances are, that while you don''t feel good about a few shots, some other bride to be will be looking at you on the photographer''s blog and say "Wow, she looks amazing".

About your skin issues? Photoshop and a good makeup artist can take care of that. Good luck and I can''t wait to see your stunning wedding photos!
