I have always wanted to get into photography as a hobby. I am ready to start however, I do not know where to start. I have taken some GREAT photos in the past with a one shot. I would like a SLR and a few lenses like a fisheye. Any recommendations?

I would also like to learn how to edit photos. I have some flaws on some our wedding photos that I am dying to fix. I have played around with the photoshop that came with my laptop but it is very confusing and really hard to work.

Any pearls of wisdom?

Thank you sooo much!

Hi Cynthia!

Well first of all, take a look at this: http://www.wfu.edu/~matthews/misc/DigPhotog/start/ That will give you a starting point!

The second thing you will want to do is start researching camera brands and types. Think about what kind of photos you want to take, and look into bodies and lenses that can achieve what you want to capture. Most bodies work with the lenses they are given, whether they are entry-level or not. For example, if you want to shoot weddings, look for something fast with a decent zoom. For macro, a strictly macro lens that can accomplish 1:1 (real life size) images. I shoot with Nikon, because it is what was recommended to me by a high-end professional photographer, but Canon IMHO is just as great.

Thanks!

I would like to do landscapes and of course pics of my family. Children grow up waaay too fast!
